Wes Mason is an award-winning recording artist based in Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, he released a music video for his “I Want Your Love” single featuring Wyclef Jean’s protege Kofi Black.

“Some songs are close to finished when you bring them into the studio. But some songs happen spontaneously and come to life unexpectedly during a party. This is one of those songs that is simply the result of having a great time with great people in the studio.” – Wes Mason

‘I Want Your Love’ song tells an adoring tale of a young guy who finds himself in the presence of a desirable female who wants him in more ways than one.

Apparently, it’s 2:00 AM in the morning and they are dancing on each other at a crowded social event or party.

An hour later, she has her hands all over his body and he’s loving every moment of her touch. Later, inside a nearby hotel room, they kiss and make love.

‘I Want Your Love’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and vibey instrumentation flavored with tropical, contemporary R&B, and commercial pop elements.

The likable island-inspired tune was recorded at the legendary Tito Jackson’s private studio in Los Angeles. Also, at the historic Kensington Sound in Toronto.

It will be featured on Wes Mason’s upcoming album, entitled, “The Animal Inside”.

“I ultimately just want my music to affect people the same way that my favorite artists have affected me. It’s crazy how somebody else’s story can become your own.” – Wes Mason

At the age of 20, Wes Mason has amassed as many accolades as artists twice his age.

So far, he has won numerous international music awards and gained tens of millions of media impressions across TV, radio, and online.

I can no longer remember my life before Herringford & Watts! Rachel McMillan continues to deliver stories that are both engaging and exciting. Set at the beginning of The Great War, residents of Toronto see their city turned upside down and inside out in this, the third full length novel of the series.

Cracker Jacks! I adore this series. Full of unique characters, creative words, a beautiful setting, and an original storyline. Herringford & Watts will drag you off of your feet and into their world of mystery, murder, and adventure.

Jasper Forth takes on a much more prominent role in The White Feather Murders and I am so SO glad! Move over Ray there is a new dream boat in town. I have always loved Jasper, but this book just sealed the deal for me. As Jem and Merinda whisk us away on yet another daring adventure, things have definitely changed. Both in their beloved city and in the dynamics of their partnership. It was so good to see all four of our characters work through things together and individually.

I can (and will given the opportunity) go on for an extended length of time about all of the reasons I find this book and series utterly delightful. However, you don't have time for such things, for you must purchase a book (the novellas are FREE) and begin reading IMMEDIATELY! Your heart and your brain will thank you for it. The books themselves are gorgeous! Beautiful silhouettes depicting parts of the story on the cover. Footnotes for the reader. Quotes from books that McMillan has created herself. But above all, LADY DETECTIVES in Toronto, 1914. Until our next adventure from Rachel McMillan comes out, enjoy discovering the five other books/novellas in the series! Jem and Merinda are sure to become some of your closest friends, as they have become to me.

I received a complimentary copy of The White Feather Murders from the publishers (Harvest House) through NetGalley. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

"I was up in Toronto rehearsing for the Painkiller tour and I saw Dimebag [Darrell, guitarist] on a local TV show and he was wearing a British Steel shirt. They played some clips of their music and it just instantly struck a chord. I jumped into a taxi and went down to the studio where they were recording this show, met him and became good friends. That night they were playing at a club in Toronto, and when I saw them live I was just blown away. After that, Priest took Pantera on tour in Europe and they'd never even been out of America before, but every night they would just stun the crowd. I just knew from the moment that I saw them, they were going to be huge. It's just a really great memory. What they were doing at that particular time was revolutionary. Before Cowboys From Hell, they were finding their way. Like any band, they were just trying to find out who they were and find that spark to make something happen. When I heard 'Primal Concrete Sledge' for the first time, my reaction was to just say, "Oh my god, what is this? I've never heard anything like this before." I got to work with Dime on a song and it was a thrill and a treasure to have that opportunity. The label said that there was a movie coming out, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and asked me if I'd do a song. The one that I came up with was 'Light Comes Out The Black'. I didn't really know anyone locally who was available at the time. I picked up the phone and spoke to Dime about it and he told me to come down to Dallas because they were on a bit of a break. I flew down there the next day and played with him. It was done in more or less six hours and we ended up just sitting around trying to find something else to do with it."

This story is filled with so many emotions! Grace's life has been filled with so much heartache. When she finally finds her nephew, she is determined to keep him in her life, at any cost. The need to protect him and reunite her family drives Grace to a place she never thought she would go. But is she really just running from forgiving herself for the past?

Andrew Easton has spent his life serving to please others. But what about his own dreams and desires? Will he sacrifice everything he longs for just to please his family? Or will he stand up for himself and take the path for the future HE wants?

There are so many interesting characters in this story. The layers of personality are lovely. Virginia is one of my favorite people and I am so glad we get to follow her story too!

Set in the beautiful city of Toronto, it is wonderful to get a new perspective of history in the early 1900s.

I received a complimentary copy of The Best of Intentions from the publishers. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.

Virginia To Vegas (Derik Baker) is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, he released a lovely pop tune, entitled, “Just Friends”.

“Maybe, we can go get lost tonight. At least we know that we gave it a try. So why don’t we go out and get a drink in the West End? Smoke a cigarette and talk sh*t about exes. Take a couple of shots and see where the night ends. Stop pretending that we’re just friends.” – lyrics

‘Just Friends’ tells an interesting tale of two friends, a guy, and a girl. Apparently, the guy doesn’t want to be in the friend zone and wants to be more than just a friend to the woman he adores.

Later, he reminds her that one day in the back of a taxi she wanted to kiss him. But due to their friendship, she didn’t.

‘Just Friends’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and danceable instrumentation scented with an electro-pop fragrance.

After being discovered on YouTube, Virginia to Vegas signed to Wax Records in 2013. Since then, he has received critical acclaim and several platinum certifications.

In 2018, he expanded his reach internationally, co-writing the single “IDWK” with blackbear and DVBBS.

Mackenta is a singer-songwriter based in Toronto, Canada. Not too long ago, she released a music video for her “Dawn” single.

“I’ve noticed a common theme throughout my past relationships. Both parties weren’t really ready for something serious yet boundaries weren’t established. Therefore, causing a lack of respect. ‘Dawn’ is about falling for someone that you know won’t work in the long run, but letting it happen anyways.” – Mackenta

The audiovisual finds Mackenta chilling at a skate park with her significant other, played by Ty Senoj.

‘Dawn’ contains a relatable storyline, ear-welcoming vocals, and chill instrumentation flavored with a contemporary R&B aroma.

“I felt a lot of mixed emotions while writing ‘Dawn’. Nostalgia over the good memories and potential. Resentment about not being something more. Shame over allowing the situation to escalate so far. I’m telling it from my point of view, so there’s a sense of blame towards this person who is not mature enough to take things seriously. Also, realizing that I’m equally to blame for not drawing the line or understanding my own intentions. Ultimately, it’s about two people who both need to heal before they could ever be together.” – Mackenta

‘Dawn’ will be featured on Mackenta’s upcoming EP, which will drop later this year.

A Soldier's Sketchbook: The Illustrated First World War Diary of R.H. Rabjohn by John Wilson is a fascinating glimpse into the actual sketchbook/diary of a soldier who served in World War I. It follows Russell Rabjohn from 1916 to 1919 during his time in World War I. Russell was a trained artist, so his superiors directed him to make technical drawings and maps. Constantly having pen and paper available enabled Russell to freely sketch his experiences on the frontlines. The drawings are a unique peek into the past.

The selected diary entries are interspersed with clearly marked context. The black-and-white pencil drawings are impressive and the sketches that show the horrors of war are respectfully rendered. What impacted me most in the beginning was the innocence of the young man from Toronto going out into the world for the first time.

I appreciated this chance to get to know a little more about World War I from the life of a Canadian soldier. It was a pleasure to get to know Private Rabjohn. I am grateful to him for his commitment to documentation. Historian and author John Wilson did a great job providing context and compiling the information into an engaging and beautifully formatted book. This book can be appreciated by older children and adults.

I received an advanced readers copy from Penguin Random House Canada and Tundra Books via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Featurette is an electro-pop duo based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Not too long ago, they released a music video for their “Million Things” single.

“With ‘Million Things’, we’re trying to capture a snapshot of the social media driven world we live in, and how it affects our relationships and even mental health. Everyone’s trying to be insta-famous. Everyone’s got to look their best at all times and ‘play the part’ so that they’re not forgotten. We’ve got to be one step ahead, more likes, more followers, it’s endless. It can be draining to create a world where we’re always presenting our ‘best self’.” – Featurette

‘Million Things’ highlights our vulnerabilities. Also, it asks the probing questions: How did we get to this point? And, what price did we have to pay along the way?

The likable tune contains a relatable storyline and ear-welcoming vocals. Also, it possesses lush instrumentation scented with an electro-pop aroma.

“We live tethered to our Instagram feeds. Also, we care more about what we look like on the outside than how we’re doing on the inside. ‘Million Things’ is about having everything you’ve ever dreamed of, but the loneliness we’re left with if we don’t have anyone to share in the moments that matter.” – Featurette

Featurette consists of Lexie Jay (lead vocals) and Jon Fedorsen (drums, production). The bubbly duo has spent the past several months in the studio, writing and producing their upcoming sophomore album.

Their musical influences include Tove Lo, Phantogram, Bjork, and Deadmau5.

"Forever when I hear this song it moves me. I think it’s relatable to anyone really, whether they’re out there looking for themselves or someone else, or what’s after this life - I find it very moving. The Joshua Tree is my favourite U2 album - they just did an anniversary tour and I was heartbroken that I wasn’t able to go. “A few years ago I was filming in Toronto and I received an invite from Bono to see U2’s show. So I go along with my friend and I roll my eyes because the invite came through his PR and I thought, ‘Oh this invite isn’t actually from him, he doesn’t actually want me to come.’ But the show was just spiritual and magical - I was hypnotised. “The PR had also invited me to his after party, and again I was thinking, ‘is this really coming from him?’ I had to work the next day at 6am and it was already midnight, but I thought ‘you know what, this is a once in a lifetime experience.’ So we go, we wait for an hour and my friend tells me, ‘let’s just wait for 30 minutes more,’ And just then in strolls Bono - he walks over and sits with me and my friend for about three hours and we just chatted about everything - music, politics, family, spirituality. It was a really special experience. He’s always been a lead singer that I have looked up to and I had so much respect for him for doing that."

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy in exchange for an honest review.

Rania is a regular girl, just trying to get through life in Toronto. Adam is a rich bachelor, spending and sleeping his way through the days. When they cross paths, sparks fly, and Adam realizes he might not mind leaving the single-life behind, once and for all. However, Rania has a scarred past, and it's keeping barriers around her heart. Can these two make it together, or will their differences drive them apart before they even get started?

I enjoyed this book right from the start. I love how the chapters are separated into each point of view, as you get a glimpse from both sides of the coin and how each character is dealing with their new friendship. I feel as though this one quote from the beginning perfectly sums up how you should view this story: "I wonder at the fact that each human has his own story to tell; everyone has a past, a present and a future to look forward to." We travel through the present with both Rania and Adam, and while looking through them towards their possible future, we see that they'll have to relive a past that could tear them apart.

I would recommend this book to anyone who likes a good romance, but note that it's not your typical boy-meets-girl, boy-gets-girl story. This is one where you'll be rooting on both sides, and you get to see what happens when love-at-first-sight meets its match in a strong-willed woman.
