I received this copy of The Lady Lady in the Copper gate Tower from Shadow Mountain Publishing through Netgalley.

This steampunk romance was so much fun! Hazel and Sam are such great characters and I loved Hazel's deperation to have a family.
I found it very relatable.

Well, maybe not the mentally unstable twin sister
Or the uncle who might be a vampire
Or the assistant who might be a Murder.

Ok, you got me
But this one was an absolute ball to read.

Excellent Tower Defense Game With A Twist
Bastion is a cooperative strategy game for one to four players. Taking inspiration from extremely popular tower defense video games, Bastion subjects players to an unrelenting stream of attacks by an army of vicious monsters. By channeling the sources within the city’s districts, defense towers, and citadel, players work together to defend its borders, all the while gaining useful spells from the enemies they defeat. Only by properly managing their mana, spells, and rituals will they have any hope of withstanding the onslaught.

In Bastion, you and your friends are the city’s last hope. Only you can stem the tide of the invading hordes. The tension constantly mounts during each game as a new card is drawn from the enemy deck and advances along the city walls after every player’s turn. You must clear them all from the walls by spending mana tokens if you hope to stem the tide. Players win or lose together, so make sure to coordinate your actions before the city is overrun. It will take a careful balance between channeling mana, moving throughout the city, and defeating enemies to claim victory.

Staring down a horde of vicious monsters is intimidating for even the most experienced of heroes. Luckily for you, defeating enemies converts their life-force into powerful spells that can provide an advantage at critical moments. Reduce an enemy to dust with a powerful fireball spell or use the plenty spell to give yourself a quick influx of extra mana tokens. Determining the best time to use these spells is up to the you, of course, but waiting for perfect moment can turn the tide of battle in your favor.

Once you’ve mastered the introductory game, there are even more ways to play Bastion. More powerful enemies await those seeking even more of a challenge, including the fearsome Black Knight or the revolting Knellerwyrm. In turn, the heroes respond to this increased threat by harnessing the power of ancient rituals that make it easier to obtain mana of the color they need. On top of the extra monsters, Bastion also includes four unique scenarios that add special rules and more variety. Can you handle an enemy army made up of flying creatures? What would happen if you arrived at the city after the enemy forces? Each scenario demands new strategies and offers a unique spin on the Bastion experience. The enemy is at the gates. Take up arms and fight for victory!

Its a excellent strategy game and has a excellent replay value with the different scenarios, you can go solo or play with others. Its a excellent twist on the tower defense genre. If you want to learn more go to BoardGameGeek, Dice Tower Reviews or Rahdo Walkthroughs. I learn about it through Dice Tower Reviews and bought it right away. Its a excellent game.

Welcome to peach trees
Welcome to Mega-City One, a self contained city, with over 400 million citizens where the only law enforcers are the Judge's who are Judge, Jury & executioner. Filled with mega-structures.

Peach Trees is a 200 Floor mega-structure housing tower, the block is home to more than 75,000 citizens & is Notorious for its crime rate.

Whilst investigating a homicide with rookie Judge with a powerful psychic ability legendary Judge Dredd (Karl Urban) becomes the Target of a vicious and violent Hunt by the Ma-Ma clan when she put the tower into Lockdown!

Karl Urban's portrayal of the comic book Legend and his decision to remain faithful to the character made this movie one not to miss and although the box office was not as successful as it should have been, it has become a cult Hit with audiences all over the world.
Dredd is dark, gritty, well thought out, with a great plot fantastic action and gave us a dredd who doesn't remove his helmet.

Highly recommended.

Rhino Hero

2011 | Action, Animals, Kids Game, Party Game
What’s that on top of that building? It’s a…..rhino? Yes – you’re not hallucinating! Your neighborhood caped-crusader is indeed none other than Rhino Hero! Although not necessarily the most nimble of superheroes, he always gives 100% when it comes to protecting his people!

Rhino Hero is a dexterity-based game of literal hand management in which players are trying to use their cards to build the tallest tower possible. In simple terms, picture a ‘Jenga’ of sorts mixed with building a house of cards – instead of removing lower tiles and adding them to the top, though, you’re just adding cards to the narrow tower in an attempt to build the highest possible building for our superhero to traverse! The game is very easy to learn, simple to play, and entertaining for all involved! Here’s how it works: All players start with a hand of 5 roof cards. Each player, on their turn, will first place wall cards (as indicated) on the previously played roof card. Once that is done, the active player will then choose a roof card from their hand to play on top of the newly ‘built’ walls. Play continues until either one player has played all of their roof cards, or until a player causes the tower to fall over! Dexterity is important – how steady can you keep your hand as you build the tower? But strategy is key too – some roof tiles allow players to take special actions (play an additional roof card, reverse turn order, etc.), so timing your use of these powers is essential to success! Do you have the steadiness and strategy necessary to help our Hero on his quest for justice? Or will you end up as the clumsy sidekick who ruins the plan?

I thoroughly enjoy playing Rhino Hero. It’s such a fun and lighthearted little game that I can’t help but smile every time I play! One reason it’s so great is that it is extremely simple to learn, teach, and play. Playing with new players? Try Rhino Hero. Playing with children? Try Rhino Hero. Need something short and light to play between big games? Try Rhino Hero. It’s just a nice breathe of fresh air and I am almost always down to give it a couple of plays!

Another reason why I like Rhino Hero is that it’s more than just a dexterity game. Yes, the brunt of this game is centered around carefully building the tallest tower possible, but the card abilities take it to the next level. It adds an element of strategy that keeps players engaged beyond just needing a steady hand. How can you use your cards to best benefit you, or best block your opponents? It all depends on your current roof cards, so every game can require a different strategy!

If you’re looking for a short, light game, I hope you’ll consider Rhino Hero. It’s not the most strategic or cut-throat game out there, but it will definitely keep you engaged until the end – with pumping adrenaline and shaky hands (for me, at least). Purple Phoenix Games gives Rhino Hero a rhinoriffic 16 / 24.

This game is so easy to learn and to play! Like the name suggests, the game is all about balancing. It is a little like Jenga or Topple in that you add pieces to a growing tower. The pieces are metal poles that are all of varying lengths. To play, you roll a die and add the color pole that matches the color you roll to the tower being careful to place it in such a way that doesn’t cause the whole thing to collapse. When I played this with my family, we decided that there really aren't enough pieces in one set to keep the game going for very long so we put two sets together. It is a little bit of a tight squeeze to get both sets into one tube (the game comes in a clear tube), but we were able to fit both sets into one container for easy storage. This is a quick game to learn, and is good for the whole family.

We don’t normally tend to go for these type of games, but every once in a while, it is nice to break away from the longer, more intense games we typically choose.

What the hell did I just watch...well at least it had Idris Elba
The Dark Tower is a really amazing book... I have no idea what the hell they did with this movie there was no character development and it felt like they through you into a movie that had already started so I felt like I was playing catch up most of the time and I've read the first three books in the series.

But hey it had Idris Elba and I could watch the man stand around and do nothing so 3 stars or rather bombs it is.

A simple yet fun tower defense game. You play as Nia who visits her grandparents only to find them gone and the house overrun with cats. The gist of the game is Nia explores the house and builds a pillow fort to defend against the attacks of the cats in order to unravel the mystery of why there are so many cats and where her grandparents are. Overall, it's very cute with charming art and gameplay. It's not very long, about three hours, but it's a lot of fun and the story itself is pretty good.

The Lady of Misrule is a fictional account of Lady Jane Grey's incarceration in the Tower of London from the perspective of her companion, Elizabeth.

Suzannah Dunn emphasises Jane's innocence and the ludicrous reasons for her imprisonment. At a time when changes in religion were causing death and unrest, it was a crime merely to think a different way to the monarch, let alone be a "pretender" queen.

Despite the narrative, there was nothing the author could do to avoid its foregone conclusion. What is shocking, however, is the unexpected suddenness of the event, Jane's pious strength and the devastating shock felt by Elizabeth.

When their friend Chet's jalopy is stolen, Frank and Joe think it is their chance to prove they can be detectives. But when they find his car, it just leads them to more mysteries.

This is my first time reading a Hardy Boys book in years, and I found it interesting. The characters were still as shallow as I remembered, but I was surprised to find the plot was episodic and their father did some big chunks of the investigation without them. Still, I enjoyed it and think kids today will, too.

"This is a throwback to my youth. I heard it at the time, thought it was nice enough, but then I was reintroduced to Tears for Fears a lot later on. We had the big chains like Tower Records and Sam Goodie in Reno, then there was Recycled Records which sold vinyl, that’s still there. We’d cruise on over to the mall and I’d have a wish list of records I wanted for my birthday or Christmas. When I was younger than that my mom would buy me tape singles and I’d listen to the radio a lot. When I was little I was all about the radio. I remember this song from those days."
