A demented tragic inversion of The Road
When I first started reading this, I was expecting an apocalyptic type novel - which in some ways it was for the main character Peggy.

Her father, who should have protected her, took the young child down an extremely dark path in this novel concluding with the ultimate horror in its final climax.

If I mention the themes it will probably end up spoiling the story but it is not a traditional Armageddon plot.

A trigger warning is required with this tragic, terrible story so read with an open mind.

A wonderful array of short stories set in India
An intriguing network of short stories set in modern India with a backdrop of traditional culture. The stories have a vague link with one another, usually focusing on one particular character's narrative. And the nature of each story varies from magical realism to politics. While there were some stories I liked more than others, the animal cruelty of one specific tale was a little gratuitous to my liking. And while I know this happens in India it didn't seem to go anywhere. Other than that a well written cyclical novel.

Absolutely amazing!
"Spirit Circle" is an amazing manga that pairs characters that are well rounded and have interesting motivations with a story that is genuinely engaging. The main characters Fuuta and Kouko are dynamic and sympathetic, while not overpowering the side characters. Additionally, the manga isn't overstuffed with the traditional tropes that you would expect to find in an adventure. The art is beautiful and fits the mood perfectly.

Overall, it's just an amazing read and I would highly recommend it if you are into a good mystery.

Bow down to the King
The hype for Black Panther has been building for about a year and dear lord they did not disappoint. From start to finish you are drawn in and the movie does not let you go.

For me Michael B Jordan stole the movie for me though he was just spectacular.

The crowning achievement though was the costume designs they were all so breathtakingly gorgeous and you could tell that they were someone who understood the culture, they just seamlessly mixed traditional and futuristic and I AM IN LOVE!

Due to my lack of participation in the dating world, my father decided to purchase this book for me to give me some pointers. Now THIS was hilarious!
Done in the style of the all popular 'LadyBird Book Of' series complete with the traditional artwork and a dash of British humour this is definitely one to pick up. It goes through what you should expect from dating in this day and age in a very honest manner, which is just perfect. It's in your face, it's raw and it's guaranteed to give you a giggle.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)
2001 | Adventure, Fantasy
The first - and, for my money, best - of Peter Jackson's now 6-film foray into Middle Earth, that (I'm sure) saw a massive boost to the New Zealand economy where it was filmed!

It's hard to talk about this film nowadays without describing the plot - is there anyone who doesn't know it? - but this is the film that (I believe) sticks closest to the original story, and is very much what I would call 'traditional' High Fantasy (as opposed to 'Urban Fantasy'), with do-good Elves, Dwarves, Rangers, Orcs, Goblins, Cave-Trolls, Hobbits (halflings) ,,,,

And finally,

"Fly, you fools!"

still packs a punch!

"Full disclosure: Samantha Irby is my real life actual friend, but that’s only because I was so rabidly obsessed with her perfect, brilliant, peerlessly funny writing that I flew to Chicago and forced her to love me, so I think that hardly counts as a traditional conflict of interest. I was a fan FIRST. This book doesn’t come out until March, but I was lucky enough to read an early manuscript, and it’s exactly the collection of new Samantha Irby essays you’ve been yearning for, the perfect spring promise to keep you trucking through the winter."

Very strange setting
Film version of the Andrew Lloyd Webber rock musical of the same name, and - unfortunately - it doesn't quite work.

Personally, I think that's because of the juxtaposition of the events being (re)told through the eyes of Judas Iscariot alongside the more modern setting, which is just *odd*: here, for example, the Roman empire seems to have access to jet fighters, tanks and rifles (amongst others ...)

I think if they had stuck to a more 'traditional' production design instead of trying to marry the story with a modern setting it would have worked better.

Herc is the story of Hercules told by the people who knew him. I really enjoyed this style of storytelling, it seemed more personal, and unlike the traditional myths, we could see how Hercules actions impacted on those around him, and those he loved.

This isn’t a story for the faint-hearted. It’s graphic both in violence (he was a violent man) and sex (who liked sex). Also, it would probably help if you knew the story of Hercules before starting this. It can dart around a bit from person to person.

Recommended for the Greek mythology fans 🙋🏼‍♀️

Recycled Science by Tammy Enz and Jodi Lyn Wheeler-Toppen is a book about recycling. The book aims to reuse common household items to become useful items such as lava lamps, flashlights and speakers. The book is filled with excellent pictures during the different stages of the experiment.

This book contains some interesting science projects. The book is geared toward upper elementary or middle school students; however, it is important that the projects are completed with adult supervision because of the potentially dangerous items required. These projects should be completed at home or outside as they would not work in a traditional classroom environment.
