"It’s impossible to pick just one Truffaut, but I keep going back to this, partly for the luminous performance by the late Françoise Dorléac. Truffaut’s adoration of his leading ladies always translated beautifully to film. The story is of the adulterous-homicidal type that Simenon favored."

All in all, I thought it was an amazing novel that was, of course, ruined by it being translated, horribly at that, into a movie. I thought that the characters and the situation they were in was not only possible but highly believably for their werewolf world. I literally could not put the book down.

Whoever translated this from the French is an excellent writer themselves. The language is nothing short of elegant, and reminiscent of Ondaatje. The story is simple but the characters are so vivid and special, they draw you in. Simply a lovely read from start to finish (and the twist in the end isn't bad, either).

If ever a computer game translated to real life this would be it.
It moves at a crazy pace and resembles Grand Theft Auto in its execution, it's a joy to watch if you disengage your brain and strap in as Chev despatches those in his way as he attempts to keep his heart rate up.
