Kristina (502 KP) rated Just One Day (Just One Day, #1) in Books
Dec 7, 2020
I really enjoyed Just One Day. As Allyson and Willem travel through the streets of Paris, I almost feel as if I'm right alongside them, watching them grow closer and closer. It's an exhilarating experience, feeling like you've been transported to another country.
Jennifer Daniell (108 KP) rated Groupon in Apps
Apr 17, 2018
Groupon is great for getting experiences and food at a nice discount,. and the app is especially nice because you can use it on the go and not need to print your vouchers. I only wish that there were more offerings for smaller areas. I live in Pensacola and only a handful of local businesses participate, but its great for when I am traveling. I also love that you can occasionally catch concert tickets on there at a MAJOR discount. And the travel deals are phenomenal.
I do like a post-apocalyptic kind of book, and this delivered in spades. It was written in a completely believable way, beginning with a second American Civil war, that was ended by the North releasing hundreds of airborne viruses that infected and killed those in the South indiscriminately. And those viruses continue to kill.
Vida meets two brothers, Garrett and Dyce, and they travel together in a world where to travel alone is death, to travel or to be outside when the wind blows is death.
I loved the world building in this. There will always be comparisons to Stephen Kings ‘The Stand’ with books like this, but other than viruses and a complete breakdown of society, I couldn’t actually see a comparison.
I’m looking forward to reading ‘North’, which is the final part of this two part series, and seeing where the authors take us.
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, Corvus, for my copy of this book.

Every time i travel i pick up Historical Haunts book for that area. The stories are short. It will give you a page of info about the place and a page about the haunt. I would liked to see more meat on the bones.

When Jenny Diski died, I knew I had to read another one of her books. Read more about her and this non-fiction "travel" book from 2006 in my review here. https://tcl-bookreviews.com/2016/07/17/travels-for-the-mind-or-for-the-body/
