Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated Bride of a Bygone War (Beirut Trilogy, #2) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[Preston Fleming] has quickly become one of my favorite authors. With [Bride of a Bygone War] he hits another home run. The continuing action and intrigue of Beirut in the 1980's is conveyed in a fast paced yet humanistic manner.
Any fan of spy thrillers or the action adventure genre definitely needs to check [Mr. Fleming] out. I will be awaiting the third installment of the [Beirut Trilogy] and any more works by this exciting author.

One of the weaker Bond films
A very good action film continuing right on from Casino Royale. Plenty of action, chases and explosions. Has a certain Bourne Trilogy feel to a lot of the stunts and fights. The Bond films now are more gritty, raw without the tongue in cheek humour of the past films. One for all out action entertainment but not the best story for a Bond film.

Great dystopian world
I read this book some years ago, but it's one of those that kind of sticks with you. Especially in the crazy, chaotic world that we live in now, since around November 2016. This is the beginning of a dystopian trilogy that spawned a 4 part movie saga starring Jennifer Lawrence. If you haven't seen the movies, you should. They are pretty great and so are the books.

War is bad mmkay?
The idea behind The Heroes was good, the battle between the supposedly savage Northmen and the civilised, yet incompetent imperial troops. Abercrombie can sure write an excellent battle scene, and some superbly crafted characters, on both sides.
Altogether though I felt this book a little dragged out, and the whole "war is pointless" message a little forced home.
Of the 3 follow-on books from the main trilogy this is my least favourite.

Where to start.
This book grabbed me from the first chapter. every chapter left you hanging (sign of a good author!) and brought a new question or a new mystery. although not all of the questions were answered in the first book of this exciting new trilogy, most of them were--but they were all answered in amazing, unforgettable, unexpected ways. drop your classic ideas about "demonic" novels--this book belongs on any fiction-loving adventurous reader's bookshelf!

Campy Horror at it's best!!
This is the first in the Hatch Movie Trilogy. Like most low budget horror flicks this one lacks in the acting department but if you like the campy funny horror movies this one is great. The "supernatural killer" is actually one of the better low budget killers. If you are like me and watch any and all horror check it out and don't expect it to keep you up at night.

spoiler: jar jar is now working as a clown at an orphanage. highlight of the book. just kidding.
great wrap up to the trilogy even though I didn't fully love the final romantic pairing for sinjir, but that's my personal preference. sinjir + jas imo lol
love how it explains what's on Jakku and how it may explain where snoke may be from, and the battle that happened on jakku, which we see the remains of in the force awakens.

Entertaining
Well I finally saw it. It was surprisingly good. I enjoyed it better than its two predecessors. The only problem I had with it was that it tried to put too much into this one film. They could've spread the story out more through the trilogy and made them all much better. That being said, this is a must watch for any Star Wars fans. A good end to a long run. Worth a watch.
