Those familiar with Brookmyer's books can expect the usual dark, witty, satirical themes. Solid characters, dark comical humour, savage satire. Good plot which reaches a worthy conclusion. My only gripe is that it tends to wander off point, a lot of back story padding. Don't let that put you off if you are a fan of the author though as there is plenty to sink your teeth into.
This is the first book in a trilogy featuring Angelique de Xavia (and my favourite of the three). The other two books are The Sacred Art of Stealing, and A Snowball in Hell respectively.

Hmm

My feelings for this series...! Conflicted!

The first one was full of petty little revenge plots against Alex for what they thought he'd done to Kat and Lillia's sister. It was quite fun and I got dragged into the story.

This one started off as revenge but turned a little more happy with a blossoming romance. But then that end bit, first with Mary and her little secret, and then Rennie, and then Mary again vowing more revenge. Ugh! Dark and depressing.

Since its a trilogy, I have to read the last book to see how it ends.

Well, that's definitely going to stay with me for quite some time. There are definer some aspects of the ending of the Book of the Ancestors trilogy that my brain is still trying to compute, but the weird thing is, I don't see that as a negative as I might have done with another book or series. I think this is because everything in this series was so character driven I can't imagine it happening any other way. Mark Lawrence deftly skims not falling into clichés, which is so easy when it comes to ending a Saga. Absolutely brilliant! Bravo!

3.25 stars.

I didn't like this as much as the previous two. Admittedly I cried quite a bit, but I was bored a lot between the emotional bits near the end. I just couldn't get into the storyline. It didn't snag me, the characters didn't really grab my attention...

In truth, I was glad to get it over with but at the same time not having the will to read it.

It was nice to see the characters from the other two books and the Anna and St. Clair thing was nice :) I also think that this book rounded off the trilogy nicely.

It had been a while (8 months) since I read books 1 and 2 in the series and had forgotten some of what went on but I remembered more and more as I read this, though not everything.

It's a nice conclusion to the series, though a pity that we had to lose more characters that we'd gotten to know over the three books. Nobody too major!

Perry and Aria and Roar and the rest of the Tides deserve a happy ending after going through what they have in the trilogy and I enjoyed reading their story.

Once I put my other books aside and concentrated on this I found it a really easy read; the chapters are short and there is always something to keep you interested.

I really enjoyed it.

I think without that Epilogue, it could have been a stand alone story but because of it, I understand more about it being a trilogy. I believed that end bit! I was feeling quite happy and relieved for the Gladers. More fool me!

I have the second and third book but I'm not going to read them just yet, maybe when I get back off holiday

I liked this film! I think that it was a little slower at the beginning than the first one, but it caught up and I'm intrigued to see the third. It's definitely a little hard to keep track of all the different places the characters end up throughout the timeline but I also think that adds to the fun! Once you get the hang of it, it's not too bad.

I've heard iffy things about the third one so I'm trying to go in with not many expectations but regardless, I'm excited to finish the trilogy!
