"Wow" - my first thought when I finally put the book down. I didn't re-read the description before starting this book and had forgotten what it was about, so I didn't really know what to expect. I think that was a perfect way to read this story - just to go along and let it drag you across the world and back again, into the past and then back to the present, never knowing when the next turn would be. This was truly a hard to put down thriller. I didn't know what was going on or who to trust, and became so caught up in Jane's story that I totally lost track of time while reading it.
This is not an unreliable narrator book, but if you're a fan of thrillers like Gone Girl or the Girl on the Train, I think you'll love this one.
<u>Warning</u> - I know some readers prefer not to read or be surprised by some topics. This novel contains scenes depicting rape and violence against women.

I love Daryl Wood Gerber's cozy mysteries, and was both curious and excited to get my hands on this, her first novel in the suspense genre. I was not disappointed!
At first glance, it appears to be a standard setup - woman found with her dead husband and accused of murder - but it quickly takes off in its own direction and never stops. Once Chessa decides that she is going to have to find the truth on her own and takes off running, the suspense doesn't stop. She doesn't know what is going on or who she can trust, and seems to encounter more questions than answers in her search for the truth. I was completely sucked in and had a hard time putting the book down.
Chessa is my favorite type of female heroine - strong and smart, but not perfect by any means. She's just too stubborn to give up.
I really enjoyed this new venture from a favorite author, and hope there will be more to come!

This first book in the Maggie MacDonald series has Maggie moving to Silicon Valley to start a new life with her husband and two sons in the house that her husband inherited from an aunt. Between finding a body in the basement and a vandal wreaking havoc on their new place, Maggie is having second thoughts. While her husband is away on business for his new job, she throws herself into the renovations to try to make their new house a home for her family. Just when she thinks things are looking up though, a second murder leaves her unsure of who in town she can trust, so she decides to do a little snooping around on her own to get to the bottom of things.
This was a great start to a new series, and a great introduction to a cast of characters I expect to be seeing more of in the near future. I loved that I wasn't sure who would still be around next time until almost the end of the novel!

Haka Ever After (The Sin Bin #7) by Dahlia Donovan
Haka Ever After is the final book in the Sin Bin series, and it goes out on a high. Taine wants to marry Freddie more than anything. He is even prepared to brave Freddie's fathers, which trust me, is a big thing. Read their full story. You'll see what I mean.
Now, as the synopsis is the invite, you can guess that Freddie's fathers don't eat him alive, but it is touch and go for a while. Not only that, but Taine and Freddie want to celebrate their different cultures, as well as deal with their many friends who want to help.
This is a lighthearted story that wraps up this series nicely. You get a few words from most of them, plus some nice parts that will have you smiling like a loon. A perfect ending to a great series. Absolutely recommended by me.

I was lucky to receive an ARC of this book. I was really glad I did as it was a super good read and would recommend it.
The story follows Alice as she goes about her life in a small town. All of this gets disrupted by Trey and his frequent visits to the store where she works.
Alice has secrets but what’s exciting is that the big secrets are hidden even to her. I enjoyed this as it bugs me in a mystery when characters allude to these secrets but just don’t tell you and drag it out for suspense.
It was good to see Alice and Trey develop during the story and not stick to classic stereotypes ie arrogant rich guy.
It is really hard to figure out who to trust as everyone seems a bit suspicious at times, some more so than others.
The story links with another series by the author but you don’t need to have read that series for this one. I’m not sure if the next book will follow the exact same characters or pick up some of the other characters but I am definitely looking forward to the next book.

Not gonna lie...I was a bit sceptical when I picked up this book. But I was quickly pulled into the world of Reds and Silvers and the Red Guard. I found myself listening to this book every spare minute I had. Intrigue, secrets, unknown powers, fears, lies, family, betrayal, and HOPE bleed onto the pages of this book in a neverending flow.
I still don't know who to trust, although I DO know who is evil...I think...You know, come to think of it...I have no idea...afterall...

It is ridiculously hard to review a book like this...Only because I don't want to give away spoilers. So I will leave you with this...If you love YA books...and have a fascination with dystopian/sci-fi type books...You should definitely give Red Queen a try. I think you will really enjoy it! Now excuse me while I finish the series....

The third and longest book in the Fionavar Tapestry Trilogy will leave you feeling emotionally exhausted by the time you finish it.
As the final book it obviously has to wrap up the whole story, including any new threads that have been introduced. GGK does this amazingly well and it will move you to tears (again).
One of the main characters and storylines of this book is Darien, the andain son of Jennifer and Rakoth and trust me when I say no punches are pulled with this. Although he ages quicker than normal children, he is still a child at heart and has the hardest decision of them all to make as he is the one that walks The Darkest Road. I won't put anything else as I don't want to spoil it for any that haven't read this book.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the books of The Fionavar Tapestry and have read them all over and over. A Tapestry is the correct term for these books and they are all interwoven together, with some bright threads and some dark, but ultimately all part of the bigger picture.

I for one loved this book. It was funny , spooky full of eye candy both male and female. It was just fun to read. I enjoy reading books when the main female role has a backbone and Made has just that! Supported by some very strong characters.

Woah. Sheer intensity in written form.
Let me preface why I gave this only 4 stars instead of 5.
The series overall was riddled with crude humor and repulsive language, the depth and level of which blew past my personal tolerance levels. Also, human life was never so cheap: from the immensely violent bloody beheadings to the mass deaths and gory fight scenes, grisly death could be found in probably every other chapter. In short, I could not recommend this book to my mother.
That being said, the story and saga of Darrow pulled at my heart like no book I've ever read. The themes of death, destruction, and despair that surrounded Darrow crushed me. It was only the pure dream of the "good guys" fighting for a better world that made it possible to read through the extreme agony. The themes of love, betrayal, friendship, and trust left me emotionally drained sometimes. These elements made it so that I literally couldn't put the book down.
It is an epic journey, it is a moving (although harsh) masterpiece, and I will never forget this book or series.
