Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2484 KP) rated Die Like an Eagle (Meg Langslow, #20) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
The politics of local baseball seemed to be more of the focus than the mystery this time, although Meg still spends plenty of time investigating. I’m not complaining, however, since there were so many great scenes and so much conflict I couldn’t put the book down. We get some nice twists before the logical conclusion as well. It’s always wonderful to spend time with these characters, and one I’d been wanting to see showed up again here, which I loved. This may be book 20, but the series is still going strong.

Lindsay (1796 KP) rated A Promise of Hope (Kauffman Amish Bakery, #2) in Books
Feb 15, 2018
Luke Troyer is shocked to find out that his family member is dead, and that he was still Amish, and that he had a family. Even more dismaying to Luke is the jealousy he feels because Peter had this wonderful family. He finds himself very attracted to Peter's widow, and is sure that is not a good thing, but he just cannot deny that attraction.
A wonderful story of how good can come from the ashes of sorrow and pain. Each book in this series just has you longing for the next one.

TacoDave (3985 KP) rated Miami EP by Starflyer 59 in Music
Jun 23, 2020
But that's not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, while I was listening to the final track "Bored" for the first time and I was able to sing along with it, it slowly dawned on me that it was a continuation of the song "Cry" from YIMH, which was cool. I hadn't expected it. It isn't the same song at all, but it has some of the same tune and lyrics in a new form.
The other three tracks on the EP are new and fresh and have a killer surf-rock/shoegazer/British rock vibe. Starflyer 59 has evolved and changed so much in the past 27 years, but their songs are distinctly "Starflyer" which is no mean feat.
This is another great release that is well worth a listen.
