The story was definitely different from anything else I've ever read. There was so much anticipation over learning the secrets of Roanoke that the mystery of Allegra's disappearance was an afterthought most of the time. I especially enjoyed Lane and Cooper's relationship: how it began, the way it twisted and showed who they truly were, as well as their reunion. This book was a little twisted, but not overwhelmingly so.

This movie was brilliant. James mcavoys's performance was outstanding! Loved the little link at the end. Cannot wait for the rumoured sequel!

"There’s something so twisted and sick — that man is sitting there on that train and he just looks so banal and smiling, and he is a killer. It’s really a crazy movie."

Twisted, dark humour
The first volume of Preacher sees Jesse Custer quickly on the run after receiving Genesis (and his church exploding) - in fact, most of the first series of the TV adaption takes place within the first few pages, with a much-expanded look at the life of jaded reverend Custer in the small Texas town of Annville.
The story from there on is mad, twisted, dark and funny and includes so many oddball characters.
