One of the greatest love stories in the past century
Rarely can you make a claim that a true relationship is the greatest love story in the past century until you hear about Seretse Khama and his wife Ruth.

As an African chieftain of Bechuanaland, now Botswana, Khama was studying law in the UK before meeting Ruth, a secretary and daughter to a British Army captain. Even after the Second World War interracial couples faced much prejudice, but none so much as a king of a British protectorate and an ordinary white woman.

Facing many trials and tribulations, even exile from his own country thanks to the British relationship with the then apartheid nation of South Africa, the couple attempt to endure endless hardships to be the rightful rulers of Botswana.

It's always magnificent when you hear these stories are based on real life events. The Notebook has nothing on this.

Hilariously British
The IT Crowd has to be one of the best sitcoms ever produced in the UK. Whether you are a genius in IT or know absolutely nothing about it, you are able to relate to at least one of the characters, whether it be Jen, who is unable to plug in her own computer, or Moss, who finds is hilarious when motherboards are wired incorrectly. The little quirks of each character are hilarious in themselves, but I find the situations the gang finds themselves in even funnier. The strongest character in the series has to be Moss, whose unintentional humour has me in stitches every time. But Douglas comes in at a close second. The creators of The IT Crowd are absolute geniuses and this show is a must-watch.

A fresh story
HOW TO WALK AWAY was a fresh story, it felt new and unpredictable. There’s a jerk, actually he’s the jerk of jerks who I wanted to silence forever. There’s a heroine to admire, get behind and cheer, she rocked my reading experience. There’s a physical therapist, a Scot (more on that later) who had the whole strong, silent-type thing going on. Then there’s family, an eclectic family but they brought technicolour to this read. I loved the story, it floated my boat and I just want to read more by this author.

This was an audiobook and the main narration was going great until a Scottish accent was required and frankly it was a disaster. Every time she did Ian’s dialogue my nerves jangled. Those who aren’t UK natives probably won’t struggle as much as I did but it’s worth knowing.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
Live Free or Die Hard (2007)
2007 | Action, Mystery
Known simply as 'Die Hard 4.0' in the UK, this sees Bruce Willis's NYPD cop John McClane sent to pick up a computer hacker (Justin Long) for the FBI, before getting caught up in increasingly preposterous events.

But, then again, it's Die Hard!

Unlike the John McClane of the original, this version does come across as somewhat of an 80s throwback action figure, quipping his way throughout the film:

"You took down a helicopter, with a car?!?"
"I was out of bullets"

being, for me, the best line of the entire film (and that was changed in the Die Harder edition).

this is also the one that Bruce Willis, in a truck, faces off against a Harrier Jump Jet, and is the one where McClane is described by the villain as:

"a Timex watch in a digital age"

which should give you some idea of the general outline of the plot!
