As with all of Maya Daniels' books, it is full of snarky humour and action. There are new characters to meet as we learn about Myst's past that I can't wait to meet again. A brilliant start to a new series and definitely recommended by me.

Secret Origins (The Courtless Fae #1) by Maya Daniels - @Archaeolibrary, @mayadaniels11, #Urban #Fantasy, 4 out of 5 (very good)

"Is Setsuko Hara the most beautiful actress in movie history? That’s just a rhetorical question . . . the answer, of course, is yes. In Late Spring, she plays the young daughter of a widowed father who reluctantly wants to see her married. I am the man she should have married, but that’s a different story. Like many cinephiles, I was first drawn to Ozu by his serene compositions, the meditative “pillow shots” of train stations and empty rooms that served as scene transitions, and the exquisite way that his films explore the architecture of domestic and urban life. Repeated viewings reveal that underneath the director’s formal, often eccentric playfulness, there lies a fascinating undercurrent of sexual neurosis and pathology that is thinly masked by the demure self-sacrifice of the characters. In their own quiet way, Ozu’s families are deeply fascinating. And this two-disc set has an amazing bonus: Tokyo-ga, Wim Wenders’s loving and thoughtful feature-length tribute to Ozu, the actor Chishu Ryu, and Tokyo. It’s a first-person documentary and urban portrait par excellence, photographed by Ed Lachman."

Putting on the Witch is a part urban fantasy, and part cozy mystery. I’ve read (and enjoyed) other paranormal cozies, but Putting on the Witch is in a class of its own. The fantasy element and magical world building was wonderfully done. The mystery is well-written, the characters are likable (at least most of them are!), and I loved every word of it.

This show is a great contrast to the current superhero movie mania. The Seven, a superhero group headquartered in NYC, are essentially corrupt, and mostly horrible people.
The cast was great, and I hadn't really heard of any of the actors, aside from Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and Simon Pegg.
Eight episodes were sufficient enough for me, it did drag a little in the beginning for me. But, that cliffhanger was NOT COOL. Thank god they're already filming season 2!

Cannot wait for the 2nd series of The Boys.
Superheroes who on paper are the model heroes, but behind closed doors are a bunch of needy over powered arseholes. Oh and Starlight is stunningly beautiful, oh and Karl Urban is amazing, oh and the Superman clone is more like Brightburn ( OMG I need to review that as well!!) and just everything! Just watch it. If you have had enough of goody two shoe heroes watch this

"It was hard to choose one Antonioni film, but Red Desert feels like the perfect summation of Antonioni’s work. Antonioni used color for the first time in order to show psychological imbalance and subjectivity. He depicted the modern alienation surrounding the industrial fog that’s imposed upon our lives in urban environments, and he shows how these forces can threaten our sanity. The film also has the most freakishly uncomfortable sex scene, which turns an entire room pink. Only Monica Vitti has that power"

An irban legend - reinvented.
Remember the urban legend?

The wedding day game they turned deadly, I guess it is "till death do us part". After the vows are complete, and she promises to be his for ever more, the bride finds herself caught in a deadly game of hide and seek with her newlywed husband's edgy family.

Honestly, this film, for me was a great watch. It was intense, and I have to admit, some scenes had my anxiety spike through the roof.

I liked this.

I didn't enjoy it as much as [b:Love to Hate You|38089447|Love to Hate You|Jo Watson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1524974137s/38089447.jpg|59758616] but it was still a pretty cute romantic comedy. I loved how the chemistry between the two very different characters made them determined to overcome those difference and how they're feelings developed.

I also loved the journey through rural Africa and back into urban cities.

I'm looking forward to reading some more books by the author.
