One Of My Favorites
This is one of my favorite movies because it's fun and the story is interesting. There's some pretty funny jokes spread throughout it too and the soundtrack for the movie itself is great. I love that it's an actual vampire movie and every time I watch it, it still feels fresh and new. It's a timeless classic and it's fun to watch.

Finished in just a few hours today, truly devoured the book and simply couldn't put it down. Must order the rest of them as soon as possible and can very highly recommend them to anyone who enjoys a little bit of mystery with their vampire drama!
EDIT
After second read I can see plot holes and things that will niggle but I still enjoy it :)

Roxanne (13 KP) rated Twilight (Twilight, #1) in Books

Good book! Picked it up before the hype when it first came out. Read the back, it sounded good and the look of the book was appealing, so I bought it. A nice story, enjoyed it, but in my opinion....really not worth all the hype. There are much better vampire novels out there...this one is just too fluffy and Bella is very annoying!

Love Bites
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night- is a good romance horror film. It is slow and takes it time, but when its good its good. Not much horror, but when the horror happens its good.
The plot: Residents of a worn-down Iranian city encounter a skateboarding vampire (Sheila Vand) who preys on men who disrespect women.
Its a good film.

ArecRain (8 KP) rated Night Sins in Books

I received a complimentary copy in exchange for an honest review.
I read this novel after reading another title by the same author called Amber Fire. Even though both stories are shorter (<100 pages), that the writing in Night Sins felt more skilled and refined. The author said a lot with a little and set the tone for the rest of the novel within the first few pages.
There is a little blurb in the beginning describing Watchers, and it threw me off. The blurb makes the Watchers out to be more than the author made the heroine out to be. I got the feeling the Watchers were suppose to be powerful female defenders, yet right off the bat, I felt the heroine needed protecting. I am not sure if this was intentional for the purpose of adding that element to the hero and heroines dynamic.
Unlike the other novel I read, I felt that this heroine was stubborn. While I enjoyed the story overall, I felt it was the stereotypical story of a powerful male vampire protecting his intended mate. The alpha vampire and one true mate tropes really dont do it for me, but I found the novel an enjoyable quick read filled with steamy scenes. While the story was nothing new, its been awhile since I have read a vampire romance, and I liked it.

Kristin (149 KP) rated Descent of Blood (The Red Veil Series Book 1) in Books

Disclaimer: I received an e-copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed the storyline of this book. I'm usually not a big fan of historical romance, but I wouldn't say that's all this is, there's so much more there. What drew me in was the vampire angle, because I'm a softie when it comes to anything with vampires. The idea behind the different vampire clans, the floated theory about how the vampire lineage, etc., all of it drew me in from start to finish.
This story is just the prequel for The Red Veil series, and it's an amazing start. I could actually get lost in the story, the time period, the characters' relationships, etc. while reading, and that's something I think every author strives for. What really did it for me was the use of period language, phrases, manners of speaking, and so on. I've read a couple other historical works, and while the story may have been set in a certain time, the writing just didn't pull it off. However, this was not the case with Descent of Blood, and I will definitely be on the lookout for Book One in the series, as I just have to know how the rest of the story goes!
