So several things;

One: I've had this on my kindle for about 5 years and is one of the earliest books i downloaded as a freebie--back when i hoped i could get some good books for free.

Two: My tastes have changed in that time. Maybe it's my having read books 5-12 of Kim Harrisons The Hollows back to back, and currently reading book 13 but this just didnt interest me in the slightest.

Three: The kinda creepy Dorian character. The way he's described in this at the earlier points is some sort of sinister but very sexy looking guy. His name just makes me think vampire, and the initial description made me think weirdo so the fact that she's basically salivating over him..? Not working for me.

So all of the above combined? Yeah, the book is most definitely not for me.

Great romance movie
Movie is about strong first love between two teenagers. Not your cup of tea? Don't watch it just to cry how bad it is, because it is actually good. In this movie, Bella, who seems to be an introvert, moves to a new school. She is supposed to feel and act awkward because everything is new to her, and Kristen did an amazing job. Edwards being abusive as some people complain, well...a person who feels strong emotions for another and at the same time wants to protect that person from himself, no one would be rational at that point. Remember when you were madly in love, how did you act? Add to that the fact that Edward is a vampire, a killing machine. Great movie about true love of two teenagers and how they overcome problems and their differences.

So-so British horror movie, one of a number of genre films made in north Africa in the mid to late sixties. A troubled man (William Sylvester, presumably fairly fresh from 2001: A Space Odyssey) visiting Morocco finds himself torn between a vivacious young French girl and a sultry woman who may or may not be (hint: she is) an ancient vampire.

Admirably serious tone and the central metaphor is coherent, but the problem with a lot of these foreign-shot films is that all the money seems to have gone on plane tickets, and the photography is often primitive and flat (a bit like a travelogue from the Moroccan Tourist Board). The pace is also not all it could be. Some decent bits here and there but the drabness of the film and its lack of incident counts against it. A case of potential not being realised.
