Guillermo del Toro's stunning fantasy film is either a radical reimagining of Creature from the Black Lagoon, or a grand amour as written by H.P. Lovecraft (or maybe both). Lonely cleaner discovers fish-man creature being mistreated in the installation where she works, bond develops between them.
Manages to work both as a 60s-set genre movie and more topical comment on issues of tolerance and diversity (just for a change). Quite charming and beautiful on the whole, though the strength of the sex and violence might be an issue for some people. The downtrodden-minorities-stick-it-to-The-Man subtext is a bit on the nose, perhaps, and I'm not sure the third act musical number really works, but on the whole this is a brilliant movie.

Post-Star Wars high-camp reimagining of the famous Alex Raymond sci-fi comic strip. Ming the Merciless, Emperor of the planet Mongo, terrorises the Earth; a mad scientist, a football player and a travel agent rocket themselves into space in an attempt to make him knock it off.
One of those movies where the ostensible leads are the least well-known people in it - everyone else has a great time overacting: the gold medal goes to Brian Blessed, who steals the entire movie as Vultan, Prince of the Hawk People. Visually lavish, with a strong script, lots of well-staged action for younger viewers, and tongue-in-cheek jokes aplenty for older people who ought to know better. Point knocked off for some inappropriately nasty violence; put straight back on again for Queen's soundtrack.

Review
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked this book and how relatable these characters were. I felt joy, sadness, and heartbreak for Essie. I often times felt like I was watching a real reality show think ___ kids and counting from TLC. I loved how much it also related to thinks that are news now. Womens rights and violence against women. For being a book about a religious family that didn't play much into the book except to be part of various locations or one of parts of the story. I really loved how the book came to be a 180 turn around and how Essie seemed to pull the strings by guiding things to happen but not forceful she knew one to step back and wait.

I'm not normally a fan of videogames but this one was a surprise. It was refreshing to be pulled in not only by the game but for the story itself and the philosophy behind it. It's not however a game for everyone due to its extreme violence, therefore more suitable for adults and people that don't mind being faced with an imperfect society and the prohlems that come with it. I also lived the fact that the main character is not only an outsider ( a feeling that most of us are familiar with) but is female which opens the market for a whole new wave of players that are often tired of a male dominated industry.

This prequel novella is set before the events of The Black Mage series. Novella follows Prince Darren as a child through adolescence and his first run-in with Ryiah at the Academy of Magic. Readers discover the dark backstory between the two princes and their father, as well as the ensuing events that shaped Darren into the Academy’s most illustrious mage.
I found this just in time I was about to start First year. I found the king's treatment of his boys so awful I struggled with the violence of it (think it's the mum in me lol). I'm excited to see where this story goes as a prequel it was pretty good. Think I'm going to like this series.

A weird synergy of accents, Guns and violence
It's fair to say that this film is exactly what it says on the tin. Guns. Akimbo. The premise is fairly easy to guess.... Especially In the modern world of internet trolls getting their comeuppance. That's about where it stops for me. The bad guy is fairly intimidate In a panto villain way and the two main leads are acceptable. I was unsure about the way they team them up but it's American so, What can you expect? I'd give it a watch on a Friday night if you aren't going up the pub but there are better films out there if you like a violent flick
