When this film was given the green light I was worried that it would be a terrible idea based upon the old UK TV show, however what a pleasant surprise, Denzel does a great job here and the scenes of violence are very well choreographed, a good direction for this franchise.

Brilliant and raw this really but Gibson on the map. It's quite stark and grim but that's the point, and it did spawn an even better sequel + Fury Road which as chase movies go is surely one of the greatest ever!

"We saw it in Venice for its world re-premiere, and it was nothing short of breathtaking. The cast of unknowns and the truth to the covalent bond of violence and romance make this a special film. What more could you ask for than Shakespeare presented by Roman Polanski and Playboy?"
