"Simple storytelling at its best, character driven, beautiful and cinematic. The ending of that movie, if you’re not feeling good and your heart’s not twisted up and then melted back together then, I mean, I dunno, you don’t have a heartbeat. It’s one of the best feelings walking away from a piece of cinema. It’s all chalked up to really great characters. A really simple story, really. And that’s why I really enjoy it. It’s a beautifully… it’s a masterpiece. It’s a masterpiece of filmmaking in its simplicity. Its characters are lovely and tormented and flawed and beautiful and heroic. And I, again, love the themes of it."

"I love altered tunings, and guitarists who use them like Michael Chapman, whose Train Songs album was great. To me, this is like a lost film soundtrack, full of soft beauty, powered by this overdriven electric guitar against found sounds and synths. It makes me think of this trip I did to the Joshua Tree National Park: I hadn't known what was there, and I'd thought the Joshua Tree was just one tree! But walking in the high sierra, the quietest place I'd ever been, the idea of cars, planes, city noise, feeling so far away…there was this silence. This reminds me of that.

I loved the world building and the stilt walking. Very imaginative.

This is my third book by the author, the others being Vampire Seeker and Witch, which were both brilliant. This was no different.

The author has this way of writing a good romance mixed with paranormal elements that are sometimes a little creepy. This was a little less on the romance but it was still amazing and has left me wanting the next book NOW!

I need to know what's going to happen when they get to the Island!

If you haven't read a Tim O'Rourke book yet, you totally should!

Not bad.
The film its self wasn't too bad, I enjoy the tense moments and the possibility of what could be in the ocean. I couldn't help but compare it to an underwater version of cloverfield but hey I likes that film too!

Good film about people working at the bottom of the sea on a drilling pylon and it seems they have awoken some ancient beast! It's all a fight to survive as they have to make it walking across the sea bed, but with these beasts being brutal and popping up everywhere not everyone will make it. Good tense film worth the watch!
