"[Again by] Chayevsky. And directed by Sidney Lumet. That story to me — it’s amazing how it continues to be — it was predicting something that we’re dealing with [now]. It was dealing with something in its time, but it still continues to be so timely. It’s one of these movies that I just go back and watch, and it continues to blow my mind."

"Another one is The Holy Grail because I love Monty Python, but also, I knew all the lines by heart. I used to watch it all the time as a kid. Lots of people prefer Life of Brian, but for some reason, I just love Holy Grail. You know, I’m a bit of a history buff, so I just loved all that stuff."

"“It’s by far my favourite film and so different to anything I’ve seen before. It feels like an artform in itself. I think I could just watch that movie and no other for the rest of my life and not feel as though I’d missed anything. It’s basically three men walking around a field. That’s all it is, yet it’s utterly mind- blowing.”"

"It’s amazing how much story they fit. It’s extremely efficient. You feel that, with some episodes, if they had time to make them into movies, they could be great movies. But they don’t have that time and for that, it’s also great to watch and understand what you shouldn’t be doing in a movie. Viewing it, it’s just like candy."

"The chemistry between Jennifer Lopez and George Clooney was insane. Anytime that movie comes on cable, I can’t not watch it and it’s really because of their chemistry and the movie’s just fun. Don Cheadle is great in it. I love the story of it. I love the way Soderbergh shot it and I love the love story aspect of it."

Daft but fun
One of those films that sounds pretty bad but exactly was quite funny. A guy invites the wrong girl on a weekend work retreat to Hawaii and has to put up with her crazy ways. Very silly and predictable but funny as well making it the right film for an easy watch and a few laughs.

"After seeing the short version of this a few years back, I was excited to hear about and watch the feature, and it did not disappoint. It’s funny and charming, and has so many surprising bits in it that I’m tickled just thinking about them. This is social satire at its best and I can’t wait to see what these filmmakers do next!"

"Midnight Express is so… That and A Woman under the Influence were the first two movies I ever watched and went, “That is not a movie.” You do not see anyone going, “Cut! I’ll be in my f***ing trailer!” You watch that s*** and you are like, you are in that. So Midnight Express; that is really great filmmaking."

Does anyone else ever struggle to find something you’re in the mind to watch?

I find that despite having all the streaming platforms and on demand services, and there being a lot of films and shows I’m interested in seeing, a lot of evenings I can’t find a single thing I actually feel like watching. Is it just me? 😕

Another reason I like physical media. Streaming makes it too easy to change your mind. Once you put in a disk, you instantly become too lazy to get up and change it if it's horrible! I suppose you wouldn't buy something unless you really liked it though.

Yes, all the time! I wind up scrolling through a bunch of platforms and then just watching something I've seen a hundred times instead.
