Blazing Minds (92 KP) rated Wolf (2019) in Movies

There is so much potential with the movie, but sadly it falls flat and never really brings to the screen something that could have worked so well.

Great villian (5 more)
Exciting
Well directed
Crew chemistry
SFX
Soundtrack
A thrillride all the way through
I have no idea why this movie opened to mixed reviews, as it is actually my favourite of the three reboot Star Trek Movies. All of the characters are great, the chemistry that is seen between the cast members due to the circumstances of the plot is fun and well written, the movie is exciting and very well directed by Justin Lin. The stakes are high and the villain is complex and a truly frightening threat. The special effects are beautiful, the tone and the soundtrack are refreshing and the script is well written. I came out of this one having enjoyed it way more than I thought I would going in. Also, it is full of Easter eggs and call backs for long time Trekkies, while also being easily accessible to anyone that isn’t familiar with the franchise.

Better than expected

Well, first off, this was a lot funnier than I was expecting. It's a simple story of four friends, well sort off, who go to Las Vegas for one of their stag nights, but after being slipped something, they lose their memories of the night, as well as the groom and find a trail of destruction left in their wake! Including a baby, a tiger and stolen police car!
This "Who Done it" scenario is played to comic effect quite well but there's nothing to justify the film's reputation. It's funny in parts and the performances are quite believable as the bazaar situations play out but in the end, the final is pay off doesn't work for me, being somewhat of an any climax. But having said that, it does try to deliver a message or two about relationships and has its moments but overall I wanted more comedy and less moralising whilst trying to be as gross as possible.
Not half bad though

Bookapotamus (289 KP) rated Go Ask Fannie in Books

I really enjoyed Go Ask Fannie by Elisabeth Hyde. The characters were very well-defined, as well as likeable, and the story progressed so, so well and it was a very satisfying read from start to finish.
Fannie, is not the character I presumed her to be! But a clever feature of the story that I really enjoyed! The three siblings followed, Lizzie, George and Ruth, as well as they patriarch of the family, Murray, are going through some stuff. A LOT of stuff. There are secrets, and fighting, and lots of unspoken words. It was a sneak peek into a weekend of this family, and all the issues they possess. And also all the Love.
I'm a big fan of Elisabeth Hyde now - and will definitely look out for anything else she has written! I received a copy of Go Ask Fannie as part of the Penguin First to Read program in exchange for my honest review.

Lindsay (1717 KP) rated The Goose on the Roof in Books

Looking for lovely family-friendly children's book for your children or child? Well, The Goose on the Roof is one to have on your child bookshelf. It is quite funny. You will be laughing when things see things more problematic. It seems like fun and enjoyable about a little girl and a goose.
The pictures are done well as well. I enjoyed the pictures and was laughing. Have you ever try talking to animals and as they try and help and not helping. You will be laughing at the antics. Will the little girl get help and be able to solve the problem? Why is the goose on the roof?
Children will learn rhyming and some other problem solving and how to ask for help. This is done well and is enjoyable. Children can look at pictures and enjoy it that way. Good for bedtime or any cuddle time with children. Good for children ages 3 through 7.
