Rowling's first foray into the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, is simple, but a wonderfully delicious time. Well written and very interesting, we are delightfully introduced to a new world that we have never seen before!

This was not the movie I expected it to be. I don't think it holds together very well and feels like a collection of skits as opposed to a cohesive film. Would not watch it again.

Firstly, I would like to draw your attention to the cover of the book - the look on the little boy's face is haunting. What threat is he? What happened to him? Who is the man behind the machine gun and why? This book provides an explanation.
I don't think you could ever describe this book as enjoyable or a thrilling read because of the nature of its content, however it was well written and well researched although I am no expert.

While nothing new, it is well executed
The structure of this jam-packed, fast paced novel is well-laid out, moving from the protagonist's voice to a mysterious person continuously. While the enigmatic chapters were less than mysterious, as I figured out who it was near the beginning, it is clear and not too overdone. It is sad as there are many mothers treated this way especially through the systems, not believed and thought of as unfit. Hence it seems realistic with a sense of tension throughout

At first it was hard to follow this book due to the writing style. As well as that it irked me a bit when the main character wasn't using the language customs of her time even thought she never traveled prior to that, it seemed like it blended in well to either time she was but it didn't seem that believable. After that bit i really loved the story as a whole. It was captivating and adventurous and im excited for another in this story.

Could have been so much better
When I first saw the original short film it scared the crap out of me, the whole idea of what is in the dark that we just can't see is such a base fear for most people and the short film played on it so well.
Just like the short film Lights Out played on this fear so well but due to an uninteresting plot and frankly unmemorable characters, they really lost what made the short film so good.
