"This unjustly forgotten 1980 novel is unlike anything else: Its portrait of a world after a nuclear holocaust — the explosion of the “1 Big 1″ — is written in language that’s brilliantly fractured, as if a bomb has exploded there as well."

"I think this is the best John Ford film. Tautly constructed, well acted, and superbly shot. A shame that Darryl Zanuck was able to monkey with it. He actually improved a couple of scenes, but, overall, his changes were damaging."

Well done
Not what I was expecting from this movie. Plenty of good acting, twists and dark material. Very thought provoking and unique plot. Really entertaining. Keeps you wondering what's gonna happen right up to the end. Worth a watch!

"A meticulous and raw portrait of mourning and grief that takes us through the year after the death of Didion’s husband, as well the accident, illness, and eventual death of her daughter soon afterward. I cried so many times reading this."

"It’s my favourite Paul Newman [film]. Paul Newman is one of my favourite actors, and this is his greatest performance. It’s just a great story of coming back from the abyss to reclaim his life. It’s a really well told story."

While some of these stories deserve 5/5 stars, others were just... well... strange. Although this is an inconsistent collection, it certainly is interesting. Read more in my review here.
