"This was Orson Welles? last chance to work for a major studio and it was all going quite well until they saw it and didn?t quite get what he was doing. But it?s an audacious film, with all of his usual signature flourishes. Prior to that period, he?d seldom had the opportunity to use the technology the studios had and so it?s an exciting film to see visually. Thematically, it?s very dark. At its heart it?s a Universal-International B-picture, which is what they wanted. Their reaction to it is fairly inexplicable because the movie is extremely entertaining and could?ve been promoted into a solid box-office picture. Instead it was released at the bottom of a double bill and they fooled around with it."

"The beats on this are really good. You've got Dirty Danger on there as well and a few other guys. Grime wasn't being lorded at this time, it wasn't glamorous, it wasn't in vogue and that's what I like. You can feel that in these recordings. Today's stuff is still good. I bought Giggs' album the other day, Landlord, that's really good. I was going to buy Stormzy's but after last night at the Brits, I don't know now! I can't believe he went on stage with Ed Sheeran. Call me closed minded but I just thought, mate, what are you doing? He's got a really good flow but he needs to live a bit more for those words to ring true. Even with Skepta's early work you can hear he's hungry for it."

"It was my mother's favourite song. He has one of the smoothest voices in music ever. There's a strange sort of reverb going on there that's also present in 'Blue Velvet' by Bobby Vinton. Subconsciously, some part of me wanted to emulate what my mother found to be romantic. Again at a young age, I found that this was romance. Here was what made the girls smile because he was a huge heart-throb as well. So that early crooning, soft romantic style was a blueprint for us early on. From time to time I dive into it, as it's one of the constellations that's always in the sky for me. In fact, it's always on the radio and played more than Britney Spears or Alicia Keys, but only on oldies stations."

"The Big Lebowski. Jeff Bridges – I almost put Starman down, too, but I really think I kind of don’t remember the movie so much because I haven’t seen it in so many years – but I love Jeff Bridges, and I love the movie he just did. What was it called? Crazy Heart, he’s great in that. But, I mean, there’s something about The Big Lebowski and that combination with the Coen brothers sensibility, which, he nailed that down. I don’t know exactly what you’d even call that, but brilliant. I loved his performance in that, and I loved John Goodman, and I loved Steve Buscemi. And you know who else was great in that, was Philip Seymour Hoffman. He was really good in that movie, too. Yeah, great, great, great fan of that movie."

I really liked this YA Contemporary Romance. It was sort of run-of-the-mill but I really liked it.

Ryan Hunter obviously had feelings for Lisa and used the opportunity presented to him to get to know her better by training her for the--what I know as football, but what American's know as soccer--team.

Of course it didn't all go to plan, as is the case with most romances. There is always something that goes wrong or a misunderstanding.

The style was really easy for me to get into and I read the full 200-odd pages within a few hours. It was right up my street and I can't wait to read Ryan Hunter, book 2 in the series and all from Ryan's POV.

It started good. I liked his domineering attitude with her once she was at his place but then I sort of lost the plot... Why was he doing this to all these women? Why was he trying to get into the mob boss' good books?

The writing styles seemed a little stilted at times, rather formal, with it not having shortened wording, i.e. what is, that is instead of what's, that's and I found it a little off-putting. That's just me, though.

I liked Colt/Cole right from the off because he'd always loved her and no matter what he tried to make himself believe he couldn't hurt her or let her get hurt (which tugged at my heart-strings) and Rose/Lily was strong willed and also crazy about Colt/Cole.

Surprisingly Thrilling
I went into this film knowing absolutely nothing about it and I think that was the best way to go. I was very interested from the jump and needed to know what happened and who the heck he was and what was happening. I loved Diane Kruger, she definitely is one of my favorite actresses, and while Liam Neeson definitely has his niche that works for him, he is very good at it. There's a reason it's his niche. This film is no different.

I thought the pacing was really nicely done and I don't feel like anything was unnecessary. Every part of every scene made sense and the further you got into the film, the more the pieces started to fit together. I really liked this one.

Alien Covenant, well, what do I say? I managed to meet some Unlimited nerds today. The guy sitting next to me sees so many films it makes me feel like I'm slacking! But even he fell asleep during the film. At one point I seriously considered going home because I was so bored. Beginning and end, okay. Middle, zzzzzz... sorry, I fell asleep that time too.Alien Covenant, well, what do I say? I managed to meet some Unlimited nerds today. "I think I can live without you, but it won't be any kind of life"

I am not a patient kinda person. As much as I really loved the whole back and forwardness, and as much as I know it was very much needed as it was a giant part of the story, I found myself wanting to know what would happen noooow! I hated Neal at the beginning of this book I thought he was a giant self centered you know what. By the end of this book I love him, and I now how reading their story made me come to that conclusion.I disliked Georgie too more often than not,but at the end I loved her. Thought provoking and just wonderful, yet another magical book from Rainbow Rowell.

Iggy Pop plays a coffee-addicted zombie and honestly he's never looked better. (0 more)
This was not good. Like really, really not good. I really, really wanted it to be, and perhaps my hopes were too high, because I was 100% disappointed. I don't know if it was trying too hard, or not trying hard enough. I'm as much a fan of B horror/sci-fi as anyone, but I'm not entirely sure that's what it was going for....and even if it was, it wasn't done well.

A couple of chuckles: when one of the zombies holding its phone was searching for WiFi (ha, people are zombies! see what they did there? 😐), and when they showed that Adam Driver's character's key chain was a ship from Star Wars.

My recommendation? Skip it.
