Sammeh Lowry (15 KP) rated November 9 in Books

The favorite book of the year so far goes to this one! What a rollercoster that was but I didn't want to get off,I want to know the next years! I love this book, I know I say I love alot of books but this one I think has taken a massive imprint and stamped it across me. It was real,it wasn't just happy happy lovey dovey fall in love no problems. They made mistakes that is what happens in life and although these mistakes and these things that happened made me scream (and I mean scream, and cry and possibly tantrum a little) it felt it wasn't just a fantasy. Her writing kept me hooked,I kept waiting to know what was going to happen next and I still do. I feel a book hangover coming on I am just not done, even if there are no more pages!
graveyardgremlin (7194 KP) rated Charmed & Dangerous (Bronwyn the Witch, #1) in Books
Feb 15, 2019
At first, I couldn't get too into this because I was ambivalent about Bronwyn. I had to get used to her crude way of thinking, but it did get better (or I got used to it) as the book went along. This book was perfect for what I needed, since classes pretty much take up all my brain power, even if I didn't think it was too well-written. :P The ending was a cliff-hanger so I do think I will get the next book to find out what happens. I also think the cover is misleading; the book isn't as innocent (ha!) as the cover implies that it is.

This book is written in a style that reminds me of old gothic literature. I felt much the same way reading it as I felt when I read a Rose for Emily back in high school. The story is dark and disturbing, and you can't help but wonder what happens next. Some parts were a bit confusing, but everything is explained in the end. Really it was an pretty good book, the material was just heavier than what I normally enjoy. I do think fans of this style will love the story.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated When in Paris... (Language of Love, #1) in Books
Jan 6, 2021
I was expecting for their to be more time spent in Paris--what with the title and all--but it lasted from 49% to 61% which isn't that long and then they were back in the States and their relationship was full steam ahead.
It's a fairly long book and though something seems to be happening all the time I found myself a little...dare I say it, bored? in some places.
I did enjoy it though and the characters were interesting. I'm dying to find out what happens with the other two couples too so I think I'll be buying the next two books when they're available.

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Firelight (Firelight, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2021
This is my first young adult dragon shifter book. I've read the first in an adult series but I didn't reckon much to it but this, this was right up my street.
I liked almost everything about it; the description of being a dragon, the characters--though I thought it was a little selfish of her mum and sister to want to do what they were doing to Jacinda, the romance and connection between Jacinda and Will...
That ending has definitely got me wanting to find out what happens next and considering the books are only 99p each currently I think I'm going to go buy them all!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated Blackberry Pie Murder (Hannah Swensen, #17) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
It's been four months since Hannah last found a dead body, and the only thing on her mind is getting her mother to settle on something for her wedding. That is until a sever summer storm forces Hannah to lose control of her car and hit a man, killing him. But no one recognizes him. Who is he? And what was he doing in Lake Eden?
There is little that changes in the lives of the characters, but I still enjoyed visiting them again since I found them their normal charming selves. The cliffhanger at the end definitely made me want the next book out soon. Can't believe I have to wait a year to find out what happens next.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2200 KP) rated A Girl's Guide to Landing a Greek God in Books
Mar 9, 2018
A Girl’s Guide to Landing a Greek God by Bill Fuller (Mythmaker’s Trilogy #1) – 4
After running out on her own wedding, Angie takes a trip to Greece with a request from her grandmother to go to one particular island. What she doesn’t know is that on the island is Milos, a man who has been in love with Angie for years. Oh, and he also happens to be a Greek god. What will happen when she arrives?
Fantasy and romance – not my normal genres at all, and this book was heavy on the romance early on, which meant I was a little bored. Once the fantasy began to play a bigger factor in the book in the second half, I got much more interested in the book. So interested, in fact, that I’m looking forward to finding out what happens next to these characters.
NOTE: I received an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

Merissa (12051 KP) rated The Healer: Tales of Pern Coen (Bloodlines #0.5) in Books
Jul 28, 2024
THE HEALER is a prequel novella to Conor and Rhiannon's story in the Bloodlines series. It features Conor's sister, Brynn, as one of the main characters, plus Macsen, who works with the blacksmith and bowyer. It tells how Kelnore first arrives on Pern Coen and what happens when they do.
What a fantastic prequel this was! Brynn was a fascinating supporting character in Conor's books, and I'm so happy to have this one from her perspective. It explains so much about the following books that you won't even be aware of - unless you've already read them, as I have. What it did for me was to make me want to read Bloodlines all over again!
I loved returning to Pern Coen and can't wait to see what happens next. I would love more from this timeline as I'm very greedy!
Absolutely unputdownable and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by me.

Connie (244 KP) rated Awaken Online: Precipice in Books

Jason's story continues in this brilliant follow-up
Not to give away the story, but starting off with a twist virtually guarantees that the rest of the story will be above and beyond. Jason's got a lot of choices he needs to make, and having changed the fundamentals of the game, a lot of people are gunning for him.
Including Alexion.
And let's not mention Alfred's offer, the one that Jason seems equally unsure of and eager for.
Travis has developed a very compelling antihero, and I can't wait to see what happens next!

Allie (4 KP) rated On My Block Season 1 in TV
Aug 13, 2018
I started this show not really expecting much from it and at first I didn't really think it was anything special but as I continued it I couldn't help myself getting more and more addicted too it and I wasn't the only one. Everyone at school was talking about this show to their friends! "Have you watched On My Block yet?" "No I haven't gotten to it yet." "You need too!" I love how it's getting the attention it deserves. I need to know what happens next! I can't wait to see season 2.
