This novel was so fast-paced and Saving Beck is such a well-written book. I was fully invested in the entirety of the novel and couldn’t wait to find out more about what happened with Beck when he was AWOL for two (2) months. I truly loved the fact that the author did flashbacks (past and present) for both Natalie and Beck. It helped to get a better understanding of what was truly going on. The switching of POV’s was also very interesting.

The whole novel is not only action-packed but also has tons of twists and turns that will leave you wanting just a tad more. The multiple of POV’s work very well with this storyline and it actually ends up helping the reader get a better understanding of what each character is feeling. It also allows the reader the opportunity to get the story and character background that is much needed.

Questions asked while reading:

What caused Beck to start using heavy drugs?
What was going with him and his girlfriend?
Why didn’t Natalie seek out help after her husband passed?
“Because I killed my father.”

I’m reviewing the Kama Sutra Workout: Work Hard, Play Harder with 300 Sensual Sexercises by DK, and it’s a mind-boggling, eye-opening read that I’m glad I got to see. I mean, surely this should be on everyone’s 1001 books to read before they die? (At least a version of the actual Kama Sutra). Even if it is just to see what you’re missing!

From “The Steamy Handstand” (is this even possible in real life?) to the “Thrust of Lust” (don’t ask!) there are some very colourful, and detailed (my husband says “disturbing!” LOL ) pictures to guide you through some equally creative Kama Sutra positions. These have accompanying “sexercises” to give you and your partner a full body workout. (What? On top of getting into these positions in the first place? That’s work out enough for me).

I wish I could share with you pictures, but I think I’d be banned from Amazon if I did. It’s a small book in size but has plenty of width to keep you happy. Innuendo intended.

The idea is you swap the gym for the bedroom and (depending on how young and /or flexible you are) choose the “workout” you most fancy from the back of the book. These consist of a complete sex session by following a sequence of three positions, or if you’re feeling really energetic you can use the position selectors to choose your next random sexercise.

Just don’t break anything!

Was in my top 20 reads of 2018
Oh wow. Where do I even begin? I had heard so many great things about this book I just had to see what all the fuss was about… They weren’t wrong at all. What a bloody brilliant book! Amazing to think this is Zojes debut. WOW! Literally amazing, outstanding. This book will be going straight into my top 20 of 2018! A well deserved five stars. A must read. A must buy.

It’s not often a book takes over my life but this one did and must have been one of the quickest books I’ve ever read. I well and truelly devoured it. I was hooked. I was captured by these pages. I haven’t read anything similar to this story before either. This book hit me hard especially as I have a little girl myself.

Hanna has to be one of the most nastiest, evil, manipulative, clever and twisted child/character I have ever read! I couldn’t even begin to think how I could cope with a child like that poor Suzette. Suzette is one strong character and mother I wouldn’t be able to deal with what she did. She handled herself very well under the circumstances but sometimes I felt she went a bit too far with her responses.

This book will have you divided feeling angry, upset and shocked for the most part but towards the end you start to feel sorry for Hanna and the family, shocker I know but that soon turns back into anger don’t worry! So yes, this book will mess with your feelings A LOT. Just when you think things can’t possible get worse… THEY DO!

This is a book that you won’t be able to put down at all. You will want to read this in one sitting! A real page turner with shock after shock. I can’t stress enough how much you should read this and let me know what you think… previously published under the title Baby Teeth. I look forward to more by Zoje Stage in the future but the expectations are going to be hard to beat after this one. Brilliant.

Is Hanna just one misunderstood child? How would you have dealt with the circumstances in this book?

not an easy read, but a brilliant one!
This is book two in the 415 Ink series, and while not totally necessary, I would recommend that you read book one, Rebel first. Not least because I said so, but it will give you a little bit more understanding of these men and how their family works.

When Mace's past comes back into his life, will he let his demons beat him? Or will he finally start to believe that Rob, that HE is worth it?

Okay.

So!

After reading Rebel, I knew Ms Ford was gonna wreck me, but silly me started this book in my lunch break at work and I was woefully unprepared with what Ford was throwing at me!

These five men, brothers in all ways but blood, have a strong tight bond but Mace thinks they will disown him when they find out what his father made him do as a child. And those things that he did? No one should have to do those things to survive, let alone a ten year old child.

Rob is convinced that Mace hates him, when quite the opposite is true and when they give into the obvious chemistry that has been simmering away?? It boils over in spectacular fashion! Rob has family issues, and I never quite got to grips with what they were but it didn't spoil my reading experience.

But Mace? He really did break my heart! This big strong fireman, who needs noise and needs to leave a nightlight on, broke my freaking heart in the way only Ford can do!

She is, quite simply, a Master at her craft, and I never know what she is going to throw at me. No matter which way you see a story going, it doesn't. It goes off on it's own sweet way, and you just keep page turning and page turning until, well, until you run out of book and you are left with a little paragraph that throws you into the next book!

All these guys have history, there are little snippets and hints thrown in here that makes your brain think about Bear, about Ivo an about Luke. Luke I'm finding the most tight lipped of them all and it's HIS story I want to read next, but Ivo is up first, I think. Bear and Ivo have a tale to tell and I just wonder what Ford is going to throw at us for the remaining three brothers.

I just want to read them all, but no matter what you THINK will come out, you know, you jut KNOW that Ford will blow that all out of the window and I will be left a blubbering mess in my lunch break and I will have to face customers with red eyes! And I WILL, and I won't care.

Because I simply CANNOT fault this book!

What a great read! No, seriously, this was how you tell a story: a beginning, a middle (oh, good Lord, what a marvelous middle), and an ending! Heroes doing heroic things, the "big bad" doing, well, bad things, and all of this held together by some of Chris Claremont's most solid of writings and some of the trippiest, yet tightly solid art by Bill Sienkiewicz!

The only smear in the book, and I shouldn't call it a smear so much as a disappointment, was the inclusion of X-FORCE (1991): #99. I respect why they did it, as the book was to encompass all the appearances of the Demon Bear through the team's books. However, I, for one, could have done with out it.

The writing by John Francis Moore was okay. It may have been really good, but what killed it for me was the art by Jim Cheung. I am something of an admirer of his style, but here it was just rubbish. The team looked too cartoon-y, while the Demon Bear was not scary in the least!

But, as much of the disappointment as that inclusion, X-Force (2008) #s 7-10, as excerpts, was what helped keep the book together. From Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost's tense, edgy characterization to just the overall flavor. C'mon, it's X-FORCE, written by Laura Kinney's (X-23) "papas"! Sure, it was gonna be good!

If you are looking for some exciting X-store, without all the mess that is currently in the X-Universe, this one would be your best best! But don't take my word for it (thanks, LeVar Burton!), read for yourself and experience what I did..

I don't want it to end!
Independent reviewer for Book Sirens, I was gifted my copy of this book.

This is third book in the Blood Shadows trilogy and it CANNOT be read as a stand alone. You need to know what happened before, what James has done, and how he came to be in the mess of his making. And you know, cos I SAID SO!! Both books one and 2 were 5 star reads, and this one did not disappoint!

James knows what has happened before is entirely his fault. He trusted Gordon and look what happened. He lost the woman he loved, his friends, and his Shadows. Riley loved James, but she never actually voiced the words. Finding him again was bittersweet, though, given what he did and what has to happen now. They need to trust each other, but can they forgive?

Quoting from my review for book one, Shadow Guardian: James would be good, as the third in the Triad but that would mean he comes out of this mess. And if he does, he will be deeply damaged in many ways. Oh, he's gonna break my heart, I know he is! (Assuming he gets a book! *looks pleadingly at Ms Roberts!

And he did! James broke my heart, big time! But Riley as well. They had so much before, but neither had actually said what they felt, or where they wanted it to go, then Gordon came along and wrecked everything. Both of them suffered, deeply, in very different ways. It takes time for them to even speak to each other, but they need to reconnect to actually get one over on Gordon.

Gordon, the power tripping head of the council, makes his plans far more clearer here and it's not just the Norms of this world that will suffer if he gets his way. The Shadow Weavers will suffer, badly, if he gets his feet under the table and gets his way. One suffers here, and it wasn't easy to read, being Shadow stripped.

I think it does have a higher level of violence than the other books, but it really was needed. What Gordon did to James, and the others meant Gordon needed to be stopped at all costs. And it DOES cost, deeply, but it really was needed.

While heavy on the emotional side for James and Riley, I found it a little less explicit than the other books. The emotions are rife for Elizabeth and David too.

AND! The bad guy gets a say! Oh I love it when we hear from the bad guy! Now, I can't actually recall if we did before, cos I don't mention it, and ya;ll know how much I love getting the bad guy so I will always mention it, and we get Gordon in all his world dominating glory and I freaking loved it!

Writing this, even though it was an amazing third instalment, is making me sad. because it is the FINAL part of the trilogy and don't wanna leave them!

I can't wait to see what Roberts comes up with next. I'm really loving her mind and how she gets things across.

5 full and shiny stars, casting wonderfulyl coloured Shadows around!

I put off seeing this movie for the longest time. At one point I didn't want to see it. I thought I had seen a lot of movies just like it. But this was definitely something different.

From the start of the movie you just new something crazy was going to happen. You see a black guy just snatched from the street and you just know something is going down. Now I thought all the men were brought to the house by the girl, because that just was how it looked by the photos in her closet. So it was kind of weird to see the brother kidnap someone at the start of the movie. But it just showed how insane the family was.

Like most horror movies they always start very lighthearted. You have the fun girlfriend, the smart ass best friend and even the cute little dog. Then as the movie progresses it really makes you start to get nervous in the right places. You know something is gong to happen but you don't know what. And then BAM! They lay the hammer down and you know you better run. Now the twist was done in a very curious way, they didn't just throw it in your face like some horror movies. They really eased you in and took there time to let it play out.

One cool thing I liked about the movie is the comic relief every once in awhile. I think it made it seem more real and then back into the shit. But thats what you get with Jordan Peele. By the time you got to the end you knew what was going to happen and that's ok, sometimes you can still enjoy a movie when you know how it will end.

Last thing I will say is the this movie had an Eli Roth feel to it. If you have never seen his movies, shame on you. But it was really refreshing to see a movie that another director did that had the same appeal. A lot of time you get a director or writer trying to copy another style and just failing, but this worked out regardless of Jordan trying to mimic that style or not.

Well thats about all the time I have. Please leave comments below if you agree with me or not. Pass out those kodus. Until next time, enjoy the show.

"Oh! I’ve got an Honorable Mention; can I get an Honorable Mention? Roger & Me, Michael Moore. I was born and raised in Flint, Michigan. For me, that changed the whole documentary game. Usually, docs were PBS specials or that sort of thing, but it was like, “Oh my god, this is actually entertaining!” [laughs] And Mike, you know, he made sure he crossed that line. I remember it was going up against Batman, so it was like Roger & Me and Batman, and actually, Do the Right Thing was coming out right around that same time. It was a real watershed moment for me. But my Honorable Mention is Roger & Me. What it did for the doc game, really made me respect the power of a great documentary. I could get the same great emotion from that as I did anything."

Meghan Gerard is sick. There is no rational explanation for why she keeps getting sick. She has seen countless doctors and she has no diagnosis. Is she making herself sick, is her mother making her sick? What is going on in this girl's life that is making her body shut down. After finding a doctor that may have finally found out what is wrong with Meghan, other doctors are convinced that it's all in her head or her mother is experiencing Munchausen by proxy. What is real and what is psychosomatic?

Thank you to St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read and review this book.

I was really looking forward to this book. For me it started off a little slow. Building up the the point of interest. Can you imagine what you would do if your child was sick and there was nothing you could do make them better? What if YOU were accused of being the reason why your child was sick? For the Gerard family, Meghan's health is at the focus of everything. Her parents, Becky and Carl, blame each other for Meghan's problems as well.

Even though the first part of this book started off slowly, it did pick up toward the end. Then I devoured the rest of it, staying up late to finish. I had no idea how this story was going to end up and for that it boosted the star rating.

Who is to blame for Meghan's health? Is it Becky, her mother, who was forced as a child to lie and cheat the system saying that her mother was ill in order to continue to receive disability checks. Is it Carl, the father who thinks that Becky is just too smothering and needs to give Meghan a break from all the doctor visits. Or is is Meghan herself, finding ways to keep the attention on herself? The reality is very shocking.
