Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Delirium in Books
Jan 15, 2018
I have to admit that I'd heard so many good things about this book that I was thrilled to finally get started on it. I have to say though, that I was not hooked right from page one like I thought I'd be. It took me several chapters to really get into the story & the characters. BUT once I did, I was hooked! I can't wait to see what happens to Lena & Alex!!!!!
Delirium tells the story of love being a sickness, a disease, something that the US government has found a cure for. Society cures people at the age of 18 after they've gone through an interview process & then been matched with their mate & told what they will do & how many children they can have.
Lena's mother was infected & the cure was adminstered to her with no effect. Lena lives terrfied that she will be like her mother & therefore counts down the days until she can be cured. And then, quite by accident, she meets Alex. And as they say the rest is history!
There isn't much more I can say without giving too much away. The story sucks you in & sweeps you away. I was laughing & crying & hoping against hope that Lena would somehow avoid the cure. Did she? I don't know & that's the part that SUCKS! Gotta wait til the next book is released. ARGH!!!

Rachel King (13 KP) rated The Beginning (Glee, #1) in Books
Feb 11, 2019
I am a total "Gleek," and I have been in love with the show since the very first episode. I'll spare you the details. But of course, I had to read the Glee book that answers my burning questions about what happened before the t.v. show kicked off, such as what grades the main characters are in, and how did Puck and Quinn wind up in bed together? I have a life, just not on Tuesdays.
Anyways, the book is true to form, right down to Sue Sylvester's hilariously-vile comments, Finn's adorable naivety, Rachel's incredibly self-involved attitude, and Kurt's sense of style. I also appreciated that the book helped me to better appreciate Artie's and Tina's characters, as I got to see how they interacted with each other and the thoughts that went through their heads. Tina apparently has an artistic side that comes out in the novel. I also got to see more of the difficulty that Artie deals with daily using a wheelchair. All of the other familiar characters make appearances, as well, such as Miss Emma Pillsbury, Will Schuester, and even sweaty Jacob.
The only thing I was really missing while reading the novel was the lack of music and singing. The characters did "sing" and "dance" to particular songs, but it helps to take advantage of Youtube if you want to have the full experience.

A book that will put you through your paces, you will go from laughing, to hanging on from the edge of your seat to sobbing.
These books have been a part of my childhood, growing up reading these books and following Harry, Ron and Hermione through the ups and downs of their adventures.
Rowling knew what we all wanted but instead she gave us the book that we needed instead. As much as we wanted all the characters to live on and be happy, she knew (and we did too) that to complete Harry's and everyone's journey that certain sacrifices needed to be made. As much as I tell myself that those characters aren't actually gone I understand why Rowling did what she had to (doesn't mean I have to like it).
This last book tied everything together beautifully and I don't think any of us could honestly thank Rowling enough for not destroying the story as some authors accidentally end up doing. She kept true to her characters and the story and took us all on a journey.
Such a sad but beautiful way to end the long story, I'm thankful she let us all be a part of it with her!

Grand Opening, Book Launch, and Murder
After months of work, Tess Harrow is ready to open her new bookstore and celebrate the launch of her latest bestselling thriller. However, her plans are changed when her mother, Bee, shows up unexpected. Trailing Bee is her latest boyfriend, Levi, who is a suspected serial killer preying on older women. Naturally, Tess doesn’t react well to that, but the next morning, Levi has been murdered. With as close to home as this hit, Tess can’t help but put her plans aside and start investigating. Can she figure out what happened?
Those who have read the first two books in the series will know what to expect here. We get a plot with some wackiness that fits this story and these characters perfectly. I did find some of the humor fell flat for me (might just be me), but I still laughed plenty. Yet the story comes together for a logical climax. The characters are all strong and entertaining as well. I did find a handful of political comments, which were superfluous to the story, threw me out of the story. The author does a good job of skirting spoilers for the previous books, which fans will know is a pretty big task. If you want a mystery filled with humor, you’ll be glad you picked this one up.

Not really one for me :-(
Independent reviewer for Archaeolibrarian, I was gifted my copy of this book.
As an angel sent to watch over his charges, Dante has many rules. Falling in ove with his charge is one of them. But Seth is such a beautiful person, has such a beautiful soul, Dante can't help himself. When Seth's time comes, Dante will do anything so they can spend eternity together. He never figured on being betrayed, or the strength of the love Seth has for Dante.
*insert sigh*
**insert another sigh**
I'm not really sure what I felt about this book, and I'm struggling to write a coherent review, that makes sense, so bear with me, okay??
I didn't love it, not t all, but I don't think I really LIKED it, either. I certainly did NOT hate it, because if I did, I would not have finished and there would be no review at all.
It's told from both Seth and Dante's point of view, in the third person. It's not overly explicit, just the right amount, I thought, for this book.
It does have some darker undertones and parts of the story are a little graphic in places, but again, I thought just the right level for THIS book.
I did see the betrayal coming at me, and I liked watching it play out the way I thought it would. I did not see how this would resolve itself for Seth and Dante to be together, so that was good to watch unfold. I did like that a certain someone got his just desserts and paid the highest price for his crimes.
I just can't figure out WHY I'm left feeling I don't know what about this book! And you know that pains me so!
Someone will love this book, someone will rant and rave about how awesome it is. Unfortunately, that someone is not me.

It's always great to see new how-to books available, I enjoy leafing through them to see what hints and tips I can pick up, this one was an eye opener in as much as it is not for the real beginner. This book would sit well on the shelf of a more intermediate drawer and whilst it does cover basic equipment information the artwork examples and techniques could be off-putting to a beginner or less skilled but very enthusiastic individual. The quality of the instruction is good and allows for you to work through at your own pace although some stages did jump a little on and you needed to have covered all the material previously in order to get it.
Overall, this is generally a good book to have if you are into Manga and enjoy spending time submerged in drawing and creation.
