Denzel Washington in the wild west? Sign me up. I liked this remake of the Magnificent Seven. I would have liked a little more backstory on some of the characters, but it would have probably would have slowed it down. The plot was simplistic and predictable (this was a remake, after all), but I still enjoyed it. The entire cast was strong, and I loved Chris Pratt's character, I'm all about the lovable d-bag characters.

Willow is a wonderful example of what was possible in the wild west Hollywood that we were blessed with in the 1980's, Val Kilmer performs in what is probably the defining role of his career as Madmardigan, an antihero among antiheroes. Warwick Davis finally gets to SHOW his acting chops (he previously acted as an Ewok, Wickett, in Star Wars) and is most definitely up to the task.
Anybody in the mood for a wildly different adventure will enjoy this classic.

I gave this movie a 6. It was a great movie dont get me wrong (watched it 5 times) but they threw in a narrator half ways threw the the movie. So either have that from the start or dont have it at all. Or make it like a wild west comic and use the format like the warriors. I just felt it was a last moment thing that was thrown together. So if it was not for the narrator it would been a high 7 or even a 8.

Spaghetti Western
I love spaghetti westerns. The atmosphere is grittier than the mostly sanitized American ones. The blood looks like bright, thick Kool-Aid. Every hero has a casually disgruntled attitude without making an effort. Machismo with style. Violent and bloody, these films just feel more wild than your typical wild west film.
This one is no exception. Our man Django walks into town dragging a coffin behind him. His motives for antagonizing the villainous Major Jackson becomes more clear when the Mexican revolutionaries arrive. It all plays out with everyone adopting what are now stereotypical attitudes for each role. The climax is brief yet memorable.
Casual viewers may avoid this, but film buffs should see it simply for the inspiration it provided to other filmmakers.

Survive in the Wild
Wrong Turn- was a good horror film, the kills were intresting in it. The plot was good.
The plot: Friends Jessie (Eliza Dushku) and Carly (Emmanuelle Chriqui) are traveling with pals Scott (Jeremy Sisto), Evan (Kevin Zegers) and Francine (Lindy Booth) when they have car trouble in West Virginia. Moments later, motorist Chris (Desmond Harrington) crashes into their disabled vehicle. Stranded, the friends discover that they're being stalked by a horde of backwoods cannibals. The woodsmen are hungry and fierce, and they'll be eating well unless Jessie and pals can outsmart them.
Its a good film.

Easy-going martial arts Jackie Chan/Owen Wilson (and Lucy Liu) film, with Chan portraying the party of a Chinese Forbidden City Imperial Guard soldier who travels to the Wild West of America to rescue the kidnapped Princess Pei Pei (Lucy Liu), and falls in with outlaw Roy O'Bannon (Wilson) along the way.
As a Jackie Chan film, you pretty much know what to expect: lots of martial arts slapstick in his own inimitable style (and pidgin English, which is still a lot better than my non-existent Chinese!) and a few 'that's a terrible name for a cowboy' puns along the way!

Story: The Lone Ranger starts with Tonto (Depp) telling the story of how he met the Lone Ranger John Reid (Hammer) the district attorney of Texas, we see how Butch Cavendish (Fichtner) killed John only for Tonto to bring him back from the dead to get their vengeance on the outlaws.
The journey takes the two men across the wild west to expose the truth behind everything that has been going on between the outlaws and the native Americans.
Thoughts on The Lone Ranger
Characters – John Reid is a district attorney in Texas, living in the shadow of his brother, but this time he gets to go on an adventure with his brother only to be murdered and bought back to life by Tonto. He must work with Tonto to get the people behind his brother’s death. Tonto is the native American that shows John the way as his own past makes him the colourful character that does things in his own direction. Butch Cavendish is the villainous outlaw not afraid to kill anyone who gets in the way of what he desires.
Performances – Armie Hammer in this leading role is good through the film, he must play the straight-laced character and pulls this off. Johnny Depp is going on one of his stranger character missions again here and at times is fine, but at others gets annoying. William Fichtner as a villain is something we always want to see.
Story – The story follows the origin of The Lone Ranger and Tonto as they faced their first enemy together in the wild west. The story plays out nicely just how you would imagine any Disney related material to, as an unlikely hero is born, even if it does follow elements of the Pirates beginning. This does have an adventure across the west feel which is nice to see and the twists and turns do seem to be easy to see unfolding, with a villain that knows the danger the two heroes pose to him.
Action/Adventure/Western – The action sequences do come off feeling like the highlight of the movie, with an amazing opening train sequence. The adventure side of the film is written all over the idea of going across the wild west to stop the villainous characters. The western feel comes through strong too, while not the most serious we do see both sides of the law.
Settings – The settings take us all over the wild west fitting into nearly ever typical location we know about.
Special Effects – The effects are good too in the film while only being used to cover up certain moments of the film.
Scene of the Movie – Ladder trick.
That Moment That Annoyed Me – It is too long.
Final Thoughts – This is a lot of fun even if it is too long in places, the cast do a good job and this one will be a film that you can switch off and enjoy.
Overall: Enjoyable action adventure.

Written for Teens
I guess I was expecting too much when I bought this book and decided to read it. It cover twelve famous people from the wild west, but at less than 300 pages that puts each famous person at only getting about 20 pages each and that is included probably 4-6 photos or drawings for each character probably taking up 2-3 pages of the alloted 20.
So in essence what I had hoped would have been a well done more in depth detail of these famous people turned out to be college level essays on each one. It’s well written, there is no doubt about that. It’s just something I would expect from a Freshman college level course or a High School Senior. Maybe that is because this books is targeted at a very casual audience. In fact if I was a teacher in HS or MS I probably would assign this as reading.
But if you know much at all about the wild west or where hoping for a more in depth book, then look elsewhere and get this for you kid or grand kid instead.
Normally I would have rated it 4/5 but it has DRM so it gets a 3/5 instead, especially at the outrageous price it is selling for.
