David McK (3169 KP) rated The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air - Season 6 in TV

The final season of the Will Smith starring sitcom (before he made it bid, and before the 'slapgate' incident in the 2022 Oscars ...), which - for me, at least, just seems to be missing something compared to the earlier years.

King Will
A decent film about how the Father of the William's sisters set about a plan to make them the top tennis players in the world. A good insight without being too intriguing. Surprised it only covers up to Venus first pro final at the age of 14. You can see why Will Smith got the Oscar.

Disney started to make live action movie of their classics quite long time ago. Aladdin was my favourite (along side with the Lion King) and I was a bit worried about this live action. I went to the cinema and Disney did it again. I was a child again for all the movie, laughing and enjoying every single scene. Was a really nice surprise. The songs were brilliant, the cast amazing, Will Smith exceptional. The only thing I didn't like it was Jafar. He didn't really convinced me.

Goy Ritchie's Will Smith starring live-action retelling of the 1992 Disney cartoon: a movie that, believe it or not, is now nearly 30 years old (I can't believe I just typed that).
While this does hew pretty closely to the original, this is not quite the shot-for-shot remake I was expecting (or feared), with Jasmine in particular given far more agency here, and with Will Smith's Genie 'bookending' the entire narrative.
Talking of Will Smith: he had some big shoes to fill and - thankfully - he wisely does not attempt a Robin Williams impersonation, instead making the character more his own (although, of course, he has the same musical numbers to belt out).
On the down side, however, this version of Jafar is far less menacing than the original ...
