"I could’ve chosen any [Robert] Altman film from that golden period. M*A*S*H was just mindblowingly exciting as… I think I was a drama student, probably, at the time, so all those Altman films that came: Nashville, McCabe and Mrs Miller, California Split. I just loved his work, so McCabe and Mrs Miller — that whole world he created I just thought was magnificent, and the Leonard Cohen music and the beauty of the winter up in Alaska or wherever it was. It was great."

Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
Captain America: The First Avenger (2011)
2011 | Action, Adventure
As I write this in the Spring on 2021, the first episode of 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' has just dropped on Disney+.

Originally intended to be the first post-snap TV series to be released (before Covid hit, and the release dates were reordered so that WandaVision came first), both series are set after the events of Avengers: Endgame, which - to date - is the last appearance of Chris Evans Steve Rogers aka Captain America.

This was his first (and the 5th released, albeit earliest set, MCU film)

Essentially a retro sci-fi origin story, this is largely set during World War 2 and sees Captain America taking on Hydra and their leader The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving), aided by the Howling Mad commandos, Agent Peggy Carter (who would get her own TV show) and his best mate Bucky Barnes.

Speaking personally, I also have to say that - character wise - I don't feel that the Captain America movies really got good until The Winter Soldier, where the MCU really started exploring the 'man out of time' context of the character.

Having said that, this is perfectly pleasant.

Miss Frost Ices The Imp ( Jayne Frost book 2)
By Kristen Painter

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost’s daughter, Santa Claus’s niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now…private investigator. Sort of.
When she buys a sealed box at an estate sale and cat-related circumstances cause that box to be opened, life in Nocturne Falls starts to go haywire. Jayne has no choice but to figure out what she unleashed and how to recapture it.
But Jayne suspects the woman behind the box is hiding something. Something that could cause a town resident serious trouble. Or worse, to lose their life.
With the help of her two favorite guys, a sexy vampire and a hot summer elf, and a few new friends, Jayne tackles what feels like an impossible mission. And winds up almost iced herself.

I’m really enjoying this series! It’s supernatural quirky and fun! A sugar loving princess fairy solving town mysteries while holding down the family business and will supernatural boyfriends! It’s just a fun light read.

fantastic read
This is the first book by this author that I've read and OMG it definitely won't be the last. This story is full of humor and cringe worthy moments. This is a quick fun read. The characters were really well written and the way the secondary characters brought the story to life is perfect. This is a secy romantic read, perfect for these winter night. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Highly recommended

This is the perfect book for the winter months, with sexy cowboys to keep you reading long into the night and beyond. I cant wait to read more in this series and by this author in the future.

Top up on hapless heroines and romance in this year's collection of eleven beautifully crafted short stories. Jojo Moyes is a skilful spinner of characters and fantasy male/female relationships and this short collection is just as satisfying as her novels. The protagonists are warm and slightly quirky which makes them endearing and memorable. If you haven't read a book for a while, short stories are just what you need to warm up your reading habits this winter. Several stories in this collection will get you hooked on Moyes light hearted take on the world

This definitely smoothed some of the crinkles that had been forming in the world building with I mentioned in the reviews o if the previous two Lunar Chronicles books. Unlike Scarlet, this definitely felt like a is best own narrative instead of a bridging narrative. I think it benefitted from us having already met Cress, if only briefly, in one of the previous books. This was not the case with Scarlet. Thankfully, we've already met Winter too, so this won't be an issue with the final book either.

"Natalie Kusz’s often-overlooked but astonishing memoir follows the story of her family, who jumped in a car in California in 1969 and moved to Alaska to homestead off the land near Fairbanks, where temperatures in the winter regular drop to 40 below. Kusz, who is 6 at the time, is attacked (and almost killed) by a sled dog, but the most compelling parts of the book are her poetic, unflinching reflections on everything from daughterhood to motherhood to what it means to build your own home—literally, out of scrap lumber and visqueen."
