Andrea D (21 KP) rated Siege and Storm in Books
Jan 8, 2019
My only regret is not reading it sooner!
The second outing of mine into the Grishaverse and things have only gotten better. Alina is now seen as a saint and finds herself torn between all that she needs to do and the life and love she truly wants for herself.
The Darkling is coming and she needs to find the strength to stop him however she may get that strength.
With wonderful new characters introduced to us including my favourite Pirate (Privateer) Siege and Storm is an excellent novel to while away these cold winter days.

Why did I wait so long to read this book?
Why did I wait so long to read this book? Maybe I was afraid taking up the mantel of the winter knight would ruin a great character. Oh me of little faith. Butcher did a fantastic job. Humorous and heavy he actually answers some questions while he teases you over more. He even does some wonderful world building of the nevernever (14 books in and he still surprises) I found out more about the Fae in this book than any of his others.

Matthew Krueger (10051 KP) rated D-Tox (Eye See You) (2002) in Movies

Rambo Sees Rocky
D-Tox aka Eye See You- is a underrrated moive starring a 80's action star and a good supporting cast.
Recovering from the psychological effects of witnessing a brutal crime, FBI Agent Jake Malloy (Sylvester Stallone) checks into a rehabilitation clinic for law enforcement officers in the remote wilderness of Wyoming during the dead of winter. He soon finds himself helping other patients as a serial killer begins killing them one by one.
Its one of Stallone's last theatrical movie before he retired for a bit.
I would reecordmend this movie, it is very underrated.

David McK (3369 KP) rated Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989) in Movies
Mar 22, 2022 (Updated Apr 13, 2023)
Light-hearted slacker romp through history, starring a very-young Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as the eponymous duo Bill & Ted (respectively, Winters and Reeves) who are in danger of failing their high school history assignment and so being split up forever.
Which is obviously NOT what the future society wants, based - as it is - on their music, and so sends Rufus back in time via a time travelling phone box (shades of the TARDIS, anyone?), to help them pass said history course.
Silly? Absolutely?
Fun? Yep.
Remember, folks, in their immortal words: "Be Excellent to each other"

Goddess in the Stacks (553 KP) rated The Winter of the Witch (Winternight Trilogy #3) in Books
Apr 1, 2019
The Winter of the Witch is the conclusion to the Winternight trilogy that began with The Bear and The Nightingale (enjoyable, but a little overhyped) and continued in The Girl in the Tower (fantastic). And ooooohhh what a conclusion it is! Vasya truly comes into her own in this book, dealing with the Russian fae with a confidence and conviction she didn't quite have before. The war between the twin brother spirits - the Bear and the Winter King - comes to a head, with Vasya in the middle. While that war is heating up, so is the war between the Tatars and the Russians, with its climax in a version of the real-world Battle of Kulikovo.
The whole of Vasya's family history is finally revealed, which has surprises of its own. Previously unknown family members appear, and Vasya is no longer as alone in her powers as she thought she was.
It can be very hard to review books in a series - especially concluding books - without spoiling things, so I'll just say this was an epic conclusion to the trilogy and was just as enchanting as the other books. I cried at more than one point in this book, because Vasya's heartbreak is so poignant. Gorgeous book. Beautiful use of Russian mythology. This entire trilogy is just brilliant.

Merissa (11950 KP) rated Dead of Winter (Aspen Falls #1) in Books

Dead of Winter (Aspen Falls #1) by Melissa Pearl & Anna Cruise
Dead of Winter is the first book in a new series called Aspen Falls, which is the name of the town Rosie Sweet returns to, even though she swore she never would. Life hasn't turned out how Rosie thought it would, and she seems to have an amazing knack of choosing the wrong men. When this lands her in deep water, she retreats to Aspen Falls, hoping that she will never be found. However, Aspen Falls is suffering a major drugs problem, and the two things just may be connected.
This is an easy-to-read romance suspense, with fade-to-black romance. Written with the combined talents of Melissa Pearl and Anna Cruise, I found their writing styles merged and complemented each other. I don't know who wrote what bit, and that doesn't bother me in the slightest. With no editing or grammatical errors that disrupted my reading flow, I enjoyed the pacing of this book. It felt very smooth as one scene transitioned to another. Definitely recommended by me.
* A copy of this book was provided to me with no requirements for a review. I voluntarily read this book, and my comments here are my honest opinion. *

Miss Frost Save the Sandman ( Jayne Frost book 3)
By Kristen Painter
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Jayne Frost is a lot of things. Winter elf, Jack Frost's daughter, Santa Claus's niece, heir to the Winter Throne and now...private investigator. Sort of.
When the Sandman comes to Santa’s Workshop, the shop Jayne manages, to do his first ever book signing, it’s a major event. He’s kind of a supernatural celebrity and she needs to keep him happy.
All is well until trouble shows up at the party thrown in his honor. Trouble in the form of Luna Nyx, the Mistress of Nightmares and his creepy counterpart. The Sandman’s assistant says Luna is dangerous, and Jayne believes it when her dreams turn dark.
Can Jayne keep the Sandman safe from this gothic goddess? Or will Luna’s threats put them both to sleep for good?
What’s not to love about this series? It’s so quirky I love it! They are just about the right length to fit the whole story plus relationships without being overbearing or boring. I love Jayne she is so likeable actually I can’t think of any character I don’t like. This series is just so much fun. This book introduces us to the Sandman and his ex wife death. Brilliant if you’re looking for something fun and quirky.

Bite of Winter ( Fae’s Captive book 3)
By Lily Archer
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🌶🌶
The Red Plains are hot. But my fae king? Even hotter. So, we kind of got captured by a warlike clan of Vundi warriors. Sounds bad, right? But they treat us as guests, and I’m coming to like them despite the ongoing threat of me being shipped off to the king beyond the mountain. I still endeavor to reach the winter kingdom and find a way back home … until the Vundi high priestess reveals that I may have more ties to the fae world than I ever imagined. On top of that, Leander knows just what buttons to press to get me naked, in a tub, and panting for him. My resolve is failing on all fronts, but worse than that, I discover danger is even closer than I realized.
Well that was just what I’ve been waiting for with this series it’s finally getting somewhere. It still seems a short book but I really got into the characters and the story more with this instalment. Liander is still doing my head in a little bit now he’s finally mated maybe he’ll shut up about it. It ends on another cliffhanger which is fine as I don’t mind them!
