Debbiereadsbook (1570 KP) rated Mathos (The Hawks #3) in Books
Nov 21, 2021
This is book 3 in The Hawks series, and you really MUST read books one, Tristan, and book 2, Val before this one. There is an on-going story arc across the series, that is not fully recapped. And you, cos I said so! I loved those books, and I loved this one too.
Mathos is a player, calls everyone darlin' and never spends more than one night with a woman. He's happy with his lot. So why then, does Lucilla push all his buttons and make him want things he never knew he wanted? She's a spoilt princess, and he just has to get her to the palace. Lucy, however, does not want to go. Her brother will kill her, and she's suffered enough. Finding out though, that Ballinor is dead and a far darker mind wishes to possess her, mean she has to trust Mathos, and his band of the Hawks.
I loved Mathos in the other books, and here he really does shine. Lucy (as Mathos begins to call her) shines also, but in an entirely different way.
Lucilla has been kept behind closed doors for so long, so she can't remember life before. Suffering at the hands of her brother and his cronies has been her life. She doesn't want to be controlled or coralled anywhere, but Mathos makes a good point. Getting to the palace will secure her future and mean she can make all the choices she wants. But Mathos creeps into her heart, and when he does what he does, you can feel how much Mathos means to her.
Mathos though, feels he does not deserve anyone, let alone a queen. No one can love him, if his own mother can't, surely? Walking away from Lucy and from his brothers was probably the hardest thing he ever did, but also the most stoopidest thing, EVER! But it's WHO that makes him see clearly for the first time in weeks that surprised me! Given as said someone has been missing since the first book, you'll understand why and I really pray that he gets some peace.
He's not next though! Tor is next and given whats said here, I'm intrigued as to what has happened between him and Keeley!
I'm loving this series, I really am! Please keep them coming, I still cannot see the bigger picture and what's going to happen!

Patrick has been let down by the Cuff'd app, but a message from a new Daddy makes Patrick wish. It makes him wish he lived in Italy, where Akker lives. And Akker wishes too. Akker uses his friends to get Patrick to Italy. But that let down also follows Patrick and Patrick has to dig deep to get through.
I read a lot of kink books and I make no bones about what I like and what I do not like. And this book surprised me! In all the best ways!
There are some aspects of Patrick's kink that are at the very VERY bottom of my like list, but quite HIGH on my dislike list. I'm not going to say what, cos spoilers, but suffices to say, Sayle dealt with said kink very well. So very well, in fact, it wasn't till I finished that the penny dropped! I mean I read about it, when Akker and Patrick were together, but it did not click, it really didn't! So well played there!
I loved, I mean LOVED that Patrick showed Akker some things that he really hadn't considered his own kink. To be fair, I don't think that Patrick realised it was one of his kinks till the point he did what he did. I loved that an experienced Dom can learn new things, things that push his own buttons in ways he never knew could be pushed.
I didn't think this was especially hawt, in the grand scheme of things. Indeed, the smexy times are quite low, but the kink level is high. It is very emotional, for Patrick especially, I thought. He has some demons to slay, and Akker and his connections help him slay them.
I found it incredibly high on the too stinking cute and the warm and fuzzies scale though! I loved the interactions between Patrick, Beau and Jessie, who are sharing a house in the beginning. Jessie has his own story in His Boy To Tease, but Beau needs a story too! And Lowell, the poor kid who got dragged into this whole mess, he needs a happy every after, I felt sorry for him!
I love books like this, books that push MY buttons, in ways I didn't like before.

Debbiereadsbook (1570 KP) rated All of Me (Enhanced World Security #2) in Books
Apr 8, 2025
This is the second book in the Enhanced Security series, and I strongly recommend that you read One Step Sideways before this one. This book follows on a few months after that one.
Shae is damaged due to the experimentation on his ability. He is super fast, but right now, a snail could out pace him. He just wishes that Ringo wanted him, and hadn't ran. Finding out Shae is in danger means Ringo has to face the man Shae has become. And neither man can resist the other once they are in close proximity. But someone is trying to kill them, and they'll need all their wits about them to keep the other safe.
First up, I loved that Shae, and ONLY Shae was allowed to call Ringo by his given name of Drake. And I'll be using that name throughout the rest of the review, just to annoy Drake!
What I loved most about this book, was the plot line. I struggled to see where it was going, how it was going and what the outcome might be. I struggled to keep up, and I had to double back to reread a few pages, to get the full picture. I still did not see how it would all come together until it did and I LOVED being kept on my toes!
I loved that even though Drake was a lot older than Shae, Shae knew he was the one for him. And he took time to show Drake that. Drake took far longer to get with the programme though and his team mates were one step away from a darn intervention! They still made him see just what he could have with Sahe if he got his head out his behind though.
Danny and Kane take part as do must of Rawlings Security at some point or other. Couple of the original guys do also take part, if only at a distance.
But something's going on, with the Enhanced guys finding their mates (but that word is not used here, I'm using it!) Kane's sight developed expotentially, and Shae speed and healing rate grew here. It's been a while since I read the main series, and I can't remember if those guys abilities grew when they met their match or not. Just a random rambling in my book brain, is all!
Loved this, I need more!
