Ok folks. It’s been a while. I am trying to abandon my more depressing social media sites. The only thing that brings me any level of comfort lately is entertainment. I was hoping to get back into live performing, but...ahem. Not anytime soon. I might bring myself to sing on YouTube. But I’ll start by writing reviews again. Hope you are all staying healthy and safe.

"Kathy Acker was a punk-rock, post-modern writer-artist and she wrote this piece after her mother died. The title says all there is to know about her feelings towards her mother. Acker’s writing coalesces to its most epic as she reinvents, bends, and destroys language, to build a world that is a complete psychological immersion and creative experience. Her books are a gift to humanity."

You know what they say if you can’t take the heat stay out of the kitchen…

This was my first time reading a book by Bethany Turner and I loved her sense of humor and style of writing. This story of two chefs learning to work together was filled with several ups and downs and great life lessons. The storyline reminded me of Iron Chef or Chopped

"I sat down for this having no idea what the movie was going to be about and if you haven’t seen it yet, you probably shouldn’t know much either. The whole audience seemed hypnotized. My girlfriend and I still disagree over the solution to the mystery and thank goodness there are still people out there writing great films where two people can walk out thinking different things."

"Observations about life from a Roman emperor from almost 2,000 years ago. Remarkably fresh, simple, and pertinent. Filled with rational emotion and practical aphorisms. When I read this the first time, I felt like I was receiving loving guidance from a dear friend. The writing is that simple and relatable. Seriously, Marcus was an emperor, and you never feel like he’s talking down to the reader!"

If there was an option for more than 10/10, I’d pick that one. I absolutely loved this book. The writing is simply gorgeous, the storyline is fascinating, the ending is both perfect and heartbreaking. And that’s all I’ll say, other than: just read it.
Many thanks to the Pigeonhole for serialising this. I hate to think that I would probably have missed it otherwise.
