I remember going to see the first 'Expendables' film in the nougthies.
They seem to have been getting progressively worse ever since.
In this, the latest (at the time of writing), the spotlight is largely taken away from Stallone and concentrates instead on Jason Statham's Christmas but, I'm sorry, I just couldn't roll with Megan Fox as being the (temporary) new leader: she can't act for the life of her!

Have you ever read a book thats brought out emotions in you that you werent even aware of? Because that is what happened to me when reading this book. I had no idea that I had innate maternal feelings, Ive never felt broody or motherly at any point in my life, but something about the writing in this book pulled all the right strings, and I suddenly had motherly emotions. Phillips writing is superb and if youre lucky enough to have a day off to read this, you will certainly get through it within a few hours.
This book is definitely a thriller, but because of the topics in it, all the would I have done that? questions running through your head, you can get completely lost in the moment of this story, only remembering Joan & Lincoln are hiding from gunmen when its mentioned in Joans narrative.
The characterisation in this is so good its hard to explain how good it is. Phillips is a mother herself so she is clearly writing from her own heart here. Joan is exactly the way I imagine being a mother feels, Lincoln is a little bundle of joy throughout the darkness of the book, and Robby is a tragic and sociopathic killer.
I cant tell you that this book is perfect, because its not. The writing, for me, pretty much was perfect, but the plot lacked a little, especially at the end when I was left wanting more. More explanation, or a more rounded conclusion.
Overall, this was a seriously emotive and beautiful novel. It will bring out some seriously strong emotions in you and it will thrill you. This gets a very strong 4/4.5 stars from me.

I have tried for about three months to read this book and I just cannot get into it, so I've finally decided that after reading more than half and still not liking it, to finally give up. For the most part, the writing is technically good, but it lacks depth and I could really do without the author switching viewpoints with no notice. One second I'd be reading one point of view and then the next paragraph would be someone else; I don't like that type of writing, I'd rather have individual chapters or at least stopping points in the chapter. Also, I didn't care for any of the characters, and perhaps if they had more personality or any life whatsoever in them, I could carry on with the book, but it's too late now. Probably the biggest problem I have with the book is that I was suckered into the book by the so-called letter that is supposed to be pocketed by the postmistress; 191 pages in and it still hasn't happened! Since it appeared to be the main storyline, and the prologue had a teaser about this letter, I thought it was going to feature more prominently in the book. Obviously not. To sum it up: writing is okay, but annoying, characters are flat and unsympathetic, the plot meanders, so overall the book is duller than dishwater and a chore to read.

I’ll begin by saying something quite controversial here that I know a lot of people won’t like:
If it wasn’t for Carrie Hope Fletcher’s YouTube fame, this wouldn’t have been taken on by a publisher. While reading it, I felt that it was more like a self-published title in quality and plot. It’s become a thing for YouTubers to bring out books and I feel like most of these will almost always lack quality. Publishers just take them on to have a bestseller because of the name on the cover.
I did like the plot, don’t get me wrong. It was interesting enough and kept me hooked all the way through. I quite liked Evie’s character and found her quite genuine. I feel that the plot and the characters could have all done well if it wasn’t for the wishy-washy writing style. The style made it seem more like Disney fan-fiction rather than a contemporary novel.
I did enjoy reading this, which is why it still has three stars from me. I binged it and found it quite a fun read. But I just couldn’t get over the bad writing style. The writing style would be more suitable for a YA audience than adult.
There’s no reason you wouldn’t enjoy it. If you’re a big fan of Disney or Carrie, you’d love this and it’s definitely worth seeing what it’s all about.

This book is read though the eyes of Percy and Penny. The twins take turns tell you about their lives and about their family and trouble though their eyes. They are staying with their Uncle Stretch for the summer, for their mother is sent to jail.
They are trying adjust to all the changes that are happening to their family. Percy and Penny and their little brother Pauly are sent to live with their uncle until their mom and dad try to work things out. Percy and Penny are living with an uncle they do not know.
Penny writes in her diary and to her mom and dad though out the book. She also writing to someone in Africa that she is sponsoring. Percy tell his story though first person and describes it as a book read it. It make sent though this point a view. As for Penny is always writing in diary or writing a letter to family member. You can see the the twins moods and see the changes though the book.
I really can not tell that plot of this story is? All I could get out the story is that the twins were trying to adjust a new life and new family members or people. I only could get is that it was being read though the twins perceptive or though there eyes. You can make your own decision.
