starwarsluvr (236 KP) rated Entering HELL Part ONE in Books
Jan 30, 2018
This one was good and different. the new twists on satan and vampires and hell and god.. the adventures that happened... the style of writing leaves you wanting more and needing to know what happens next.. there was also time travel in this story and that was enjoyable as well. a couple spots got a little bit confusing for me but overall it was really good story and im glad i got to review it

Loved this so much. It is fast paced.. has some paranormal.. it is funny as hell.. i laughed so many times.. it made you feel with the characters because the writing sucks you into the story like you are a part of their lives and feelings. the mystery wasnt dark but a light type of mystery.. it was just so much fun to read and im so glad i got to review it

Welcome to Night Vale is the first podcast I have listened to religiously. It has taken a few months to catch up and be current and now I can't wait for the next episode every few weeks!
I have to agree with some of the others though, the weather segment can be a little odd.
Also, if you like the podcast, you'll love the books too!

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2579 KP) rated Mew Is for Murder (Theda Krakow, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
When Theda meets her new neighbor, a crazy cat lady, she thinks this might be a good subject for an article. Going back, she finds her neighbor dead. Why was she killed? The characters are good, but the writing and plot were weak. I wanted to like this book, but I just couldn't.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2579 KP) rated Cold Water Corpse (Luanne Fogarty Mysteries, #3) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
A skeleton that Luanne found two years ago becomes part of a current case as Luanne and the sheriff's department start looking for a serial killer that preys on women. Not a serial killer book but a good procedural mystery with characters I enjoy and writing so vivid it puts you there.

The memories of the man who rose from head of advertising for Disneyland in 1955 to become its first president in the late 80's and early 90's. As a Disnerd, I loved this inside look at the park's history, although the writing style could have been a little better.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2579 KP) rated Killer Cruise (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #8) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jaine has earned herself a free vacation by agreeing to teach memoire writing aboard a cruise ship. But things go from bad (her cat stows away) to worse when someone is murdered on board and Jaine's new friend is accused of the crime. Absolutely hilarious as always with a decent mystery as well.

A woman Callie knows through a charity she volunteers with brings her into another mystery when the woman is accused of killing her boyfriend. Can Callie figure out what really happened? Another fast moving mystery that keeps the pages flying. The writing is still a little rough, although it is getting better.

Dana (24 KP) rated Mrs Dalloway in Books
Mar 23, 2018
I liked reading this book much more after having read texts on Woolf's craft of writing like A Letter to a Young Poet and A Room of One's Own. I feel like I appreciate what she was trying to do with the characters much more this time around. If you have the time, I recommend reading it twice: once for the plot and the second for comprehension of what she is doing.

My favourite
I was quite simply blown away when I watched this . The writing is superb by Aaron Sorkin, the chemistry between the three leads along with the supporting cast is outstanding . You are drawn in from the start, no unnessasary scenes, no explosions, no car chases, just great acting, great dialogue. Everytime I watch it, I'm rivited and it always manages to produce the obligatory tear at the end.
