Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2234 KP) rated Say Goodbye in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Gary Kellerman gets involved in a mystery when his neighbor dies in a car accident. To complicate matters, he can't hide his attraction to the only witness. Good story, likeable characters. However, I found the romantic sub-plot moved too fast for me to buy and I never got used to the writing style.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2234 KP) rated Moon Water Madness (Luanne Fogarty Mysteries, #7) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Adjunct county diver Luanne Fogarty is asked to search for a body in a private lake. The twist is, the man died 50 years ago. Why search for him now? What happened to him all those years ago? Just like the others in the series, this one offers vivid writing, memorable characters, and a solid plot.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2234 KP) rated Last Writes (A Jaine Austen Mystery, #2) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Jaine is sure her ship has come in when her friend gets her a job writing a spec script for a sitcom. However, when the star is killed, Jaine finds her dream job turned into a nightmare. The book is very funny and the mystery is great. Plus it introduces the sub-plot involving Jaine's parents.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2234 KP) rated Alice I Have Been in Books
Mar 9, 2018
This fictional biography follows the life of Alice Liddell. Her childhood friendship with the adult Charles Dodgson gives him the inspiration for Alice in Wonderland. The writing was very descriptive, but I was very creeped out by the way their relationship was portrayed. It doesn't say anything unseemly happened, but it still really bothered me.

Dana (24 KP) rated Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) in Books
Mar 23, 2018
So this was a re-read because I was feeling nostalgic for high school when I didn't have to think about having a job. I loved this series in high school, even though I thought (and still think) Patch is a little creepy. There is just something about the writing that I loved. Also, I love Vee and Nora's friendship and all the twists and turns in the series. I am glad I gave this a re-read.
I enjoy reading Sylvia Plath. She has a great writing style that really digs deep. It is so full of pain and sorrow, it's very masterful. I had read a lot of these poems before for other classes and back in high school, so it was cool to come back to them after so long and see them a different way.
I would recommend these to people who want to look at the world in a different perspective.

I honestly don't remember how or when I started listening to Welcome to Night Vale, but I do remember falling in love instantly. The voice acting is what first got me hooked onto the podcast, and the strangeness kept me listening. The characters are amazing, and the worldbuilding is brilliantly done.
However, the music choices for the weather were sometimes a bit too weird for me, but there were some great songs.

Seemed like a good premise
I really wanted to like this book. It sounded like it would be good, the story sounds very interesting. However, I just couldn't look past how annoyingly it was written. I read a lot of YA novels because I am a middle school teacher, but this was definitely one of the worst. I couldn't get more than halfway through.

Can't put it down
This book series is taking over my life. I love every bit of it. Once I pick up a book I can't put it down. Branden Sanderson has a way of writing that draws the reader into the giant world he has created. You'll fall in love with the characters, cry at deaths that are even just the side characters, and feel lost without this world when you are done.
