Merissa (13203 KP) rated Severed (Cloud Prophet Trilogy, #3) in Books
Dec 17, 2018
Reychel may seem weak at first glance, but after reading through the three books in this part of the story, she is a lot stronger than she appears. She does not take the easy option and will continue fighting for what she believes in even if other people have given up.
This has been an entertaining and intriguing set of books to read, the storyline has followed through at a wonderful pace and all of the characters are well developed, whether you like them or not.
I would recommend this book/series for all fans of Fantasy, not just YA, as I think it appeals to all ages.

Eleanor (1463 KP) rated The Chestnut Man in Books

So having read / listened to a few YA novels recently thinking they would lighten the mood I went back to my usual pick of full-on serial killer gore-tastic and why did I ever leave!?! This is my thing apparently (not sure what that says about me!!)
I enjoyed this dark police procedural it ticked all the requirements, evil but clever killer, a determined but troubled police detective (not too much romance.) I listened to the audiobook narrated by CharlottMelen and appreciated the experience of not tripping over the Danish name pronunciation as would have happened if I'd read it.... Not for the weak of stomach.

Joe Goodhart (27 KP) rated Black Hammer, Vol. 2: The Event in Books
Nov 30, 2020
Following up on my review of BLACK HAMMER Vol. 1, this volume picks up where it left off, filling in more and more of the backstory to "the Event". There is a boatload of the feels in this one, and it never lets up, not once. If you liked Volume 1 (aw hell, why wouldn't ya, right?), then you are seriously going to love Volume 2. And if you loved it like I did, chances are you will delighted to know that the story does not end with the conclusion to this tpb. Read it, or miss out on probably one of the smartest comic series out there! 'Nuff said!

Leanne Crabtree (480 KP) rated Fading (Fading, #1) in Books

DNF @ 32%
It may seem a little unfair to rate this book when I didn't finish it, but it didn't grab me at any of that 32%. I was bored with it; I wanted more of our heroine and hero together and they'd only just met (sort of, anyway). The whole <spoiler>rape</spoiler> thing, having just read a book based around the same thing, [b:Going Under|17337522|Going Under|S. Walden|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1364409096s/17337522.jpg|24070983], I was a little jaded with the subject anyway.
I think I'm just off NA at the minute and will be doing a stint of YA Contemporaries instead.
