From the title, I was expecting [b:Alice's Adventures in Wonderland|1898443|Alice's Adventures in Wonderland|Lewis Carroll|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1397939992s/1898443.jpg|2933712] only with zombies: a mad hatter, a red queen, white rabbit etc. Well we had a white rabbit but not in animal form, the others were nowhere to be seen and therefore it was nothing like Alice in Wonderland.

She was just a girl who lost her family in an accident and saw zombies for the first time.

To say it was nothing like I expected I have to admit that after those first 50 pages or so that I fell into the story quite easily. Cole had my attention from that first connections with Alice and some of the other guys grew on me too.

I have the second book in the series and I'm sure I'll get around to reading it eventuallybut not yet.

The Cured (2017)
2017 | Horror
surprised by this
I decided to watch this movie as I was looking for a shortish one to watch, and I love zombies. I fully expected this to be shoddy so I was very surprised when it was actually kinda amazing.
Starts out with an interesting concept of people who were infected with the "maze virus" becoming cured. The kicker is that they remembered everything they had done when they were zombies.
Everyone who was "cured" then becomes subject to abuse, fear and polarised from the rest of society. They are outcast and given undesirable jobs and required to report back to the military every day.
The unrest within the "cured" starts bubbling over and terrorist groups are formed.
The main characters are believable and all the acting is on point. highly recommend this movie, it has a lot of depth to it and cultural and social relevance

Very funny (0 more)
This is a great comedy horror with plenty of action. Shaun of the dead, meets Dawn of the dead. There are plenty of laughs as a few remaining survivors take a road trip across the states dispatching Zombies along the way in a variety of styles. Very tongue in cheek, quite gory to but very funny as well. Kinda reminded me of the game Dead rising as well.

Zombies
One of the best zombie films I've seen in a long time which isn't American perfect setting on a train as u watch the main character trying to protect his daughter from a zombie outbreak while taking a train to visit his daughters mother the zombie effects are amazing the characters are likeable u want them to survive to the end of the movie highly recommend

Escape From Sunset Island
Escape From Sunset Island

Co-operative survival game (3 more)
Hidden traitor mechanic, which plays well against the impetus to work together
Challenging gameplay
Players who are turned into zones can continue to play as zombies, rather than being eliminated
Artwork is basic (1 more)
Longevity of gameplay will depend heavily on your group
A decent enough zombie game
I have very fond memories playing this game, based primarily on the enthusiasm of my gaming group to play this 2/3 times a night, approximately twice a week, for a year! This game places a group of people on an island, with zombies that are about to awaken and chase you down to turn you. Each player has a special action and may pick up a weapon along their travels across the island, whilst on search of fuel and water, both of which are needed to leave the island. The catch? Carrying these items slows you down, so you have to work together to get to one of two points on the island to get away and win...but if the zombies turn players, there are more after the survivors, and there is also the potential for a traitor in your midst, so who can you trust? This is a difficult game to win, but is the more enjoyable for it. That said, it includes basic mechanics and therefore the strength of the game will depend heavily on the enthusiasm of your gaming group.

Tiny Epic Zombies
Tiny Epic Zombies
2018 | Collectible Components, Horror, Zombie / Survivalist
Another in the Tiny Epic series, this one take the trope of co-op zombie survival games and turns it into a small package. The component quality is great, with sweet looking motorcycle and car that your Meeples can fit in, as well as each character Meeple able to hold weapons.

Gameplay wise, the object is for the human players to complete three randomly objectives while the zombies (either controlled by an automa or another human player) tries to eat the civilians/players while running around 8 different rooms around a central courtyard. Combat is done with either rolling in melee, or spending ammo for ranged. There's a great risk vs. reward with ranged and melee, with ranged being consistent, but spends a resource every time, while melee can potentially lose health, but can also go on a zombie killing rampage. The health system is a balance between health and ammo. If your ammo is ever less then the damage you've taken, you get eaten instantly.

I found that playing can be a little bit finicky, especially if the zombie is an automata instead of a human. The pieces are tiny (appropriate) and the gameplay can be stressful ( appropriate for a zombies coop). The missions can be a bit annoying at times and aren't equally fun or challenging.

All in all, tiny epic zombies is a serviceable co-op game that fits its theme very well and definitely looks great.

I picked this one up from the library because it sounded good and I love books about zombies.
The idea is fantastic! It's original in the sense that it's about zombies crying out for help and needing assistance with their unfinished business rather than trying to eat your brains...I liked that.
Unfortunately for me the idea just didn't come together. I found the MC to be very annoying and the plot was continuously battered due to her wanting to be popular...it was just one big popularity contest. I found the other characters rather shallow and were immensely over shadowed by the MC. Just by looking at the front cover I should of expected that whole American high school princess drama but I guess I didn't expect it to be that bad.
So much could of been done with such a fantastic idea, it just wasn't for me.

Take a classic Space Opera saga (Star Wars), add a soupcon of horror (Aliens), and a large dose of Zombies (Resident Evil), and what do you have?

This book.

The plot? An Imperial prison barge breaks down, and then comes across a seemingly abandoned Star Destroyer out in the wastes of space. It transpires that the Destroyer is not abandoned after all, and that it had been carrying out bio-weapon experiments ...

Definitely felt like the author was (heavily) inspired by the Resident Evil games/films: the Zombies are such not as the living dead back-to-life of Romero, but as a result of a engineered virus. The Aliens link I mentioned comes in on the 'set-on-prison-<s>planet</s>barge' setting, and I'm also not entirely sure why he felt the need to drop Han Solo and Chewbacca into the mix, unless that was just so you would know it is a Star Wars novel?

Not the best Extended Universe book.

Death in a Northern Town ( Deat in a Northern Town 1)
By Peter McKeirnon

Once read a review will be written via Smashbomb and link posted in comments

Follow the zombie outbreak as it happens in the small Northern English town of Runcorn, with journal entries from survivor John Diant, bringing you the apocalypse from his perspective as he goes in search for his missing daughter with his retro, chain smoking best friend 80s Dave.

Bloody brilliant!! I laughed so much! In my opinion it was well written and definitely funny. Love finding little gems like this especially from British authors. The Geese were just a fantastic idea and I loved this apocalypse included animals too. Loved the bloke throw zombies off the high rise block of flats and the zombies heads on pikes.
Can’t wait to read more I would recommend give these authors a go! X
