I honestly didn't understand the hype of this book. It's difficult to read, sentence structure is odd and just doesn't flow well. That and Mr Grey would have been arrested in real life for kidnapping and possible mental and physical abuse.

Heartbreaking in so many ways

This is probably the most heartbreaking book of the entire series because we see Dimitri in a light that we really wish we didn't need to. We see him through the lense of Rose, so for a while there is still some attraction and romantisizm, but we later recognize the amount of abuse and manipulation this twisted form impacted their relationship.

The best part of the book is meeting the Belikova family. I truly wish that we got more time with them in the series.

Intersting
I liked it because it showed a non true example of what happens when you mess with animals. But I didn't like that a character abused the monkeys. But a good movie overall. I really liked James Franco in it.

I found this book to be absolutely thrilling. Alex's endeavors to do good were well portrayed. I also got some Matrix feelings from the Science Fiction element. However, I feel like the drug abuse and sex was a bit over done. This book was still very good.

An accomplished book which tackles the issue of abuse hidden beneath the facade of upper class respectability. The characterisation was skillful, each emotion and lurch for survival was vividly described so the reader could identify perfectly with what, for most of us, is unthinkable. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.

"I've been reading such a lot about the awful way Kesha has been treated by her record company, and just how difficult it still is for women to be heard when they speak out about abuse. So I include this in her honor and to wish her well."

ARC in exchange for an honest review.

A boss romance involving BDSM. Sounds like the perfect recipe right? I thought so too, but I wasn’t 100% happy with this novel. On one hand, the erotic scenes were as graphic as they were hot. The chemistry between the leads was undeniable.

The being said, I wanted to punch the heroine in the face on multiple occasions. Okay, I know that is a bit extreme. Overreactions aside, she could be pretty obnoxious. I understand that she is supposed to have the “PTSD from past abuse” back story but she over the top with it. Even after the long extensive conversations with her best friend about the BDSM community, she still can’t separate from abuse. Even after going to the club and seeing consenting couples enjoying themselves. She still can’t separate it from abuse. I had to put the book down multiple times because she was so annoying.

If that doesn’t bother you, or you can get past that aspect, the story is pretty enjoyable.

I read this while at work, and I still finished this book in under 4 hours. It is seriously that good that you just can't put it down. For Robin Roe's first novel, he hit it out of the park. The book is about two teenagers, Adam and Julien, and the viewpoint switches seamlessly between the two throughout the book. There is never any confusion on who is talking or what is going on. Now, the book does revolve around child abuse, so for those sensitive to this type of plot, this story may not be the best for you. While the story of child abuse is devastating (I definitely caught myself trying to hold back tears a few times), the way the story is told will make you feel like you're in the situation that the characters are in. You can feel elation, fear, love, and everything in between with this novel. Everything about this book was great and I would definitely recommend it to others who aren't sensitive to child abuse.
