Cute, if simplistic. Had a good message of acceptance. The rhyming felt a little off to me, but maybe that's because I'm not a young child.

Rebuilding
This book is mostly about several characters building or rebuilding themselves. We see acceptance, reluctance, resilience, perseverance, motivation, and more from various characters. There is also quite a bit of angst woven in as well.

Promoting self belief and acceptance.
Not really sure what theI point of this film was.
To me this movie made no sense other than promoting self acceptance, love and family dynamics.
I went into it expecting a scifi, empowering, adventure story, instead I found it overall lacklustre. I was honestly bored after half an hour which rarely happens and the disappointing thing was, that this could have been a great film, it had good potential.
Im not even sure this film would appeal to kids to be honest.
However I would say its very colourful and the visuals are pretty good.

visually beautiful (1 more)
genuinely haunting at times
some poor acting takes away from the plot (1 more)
although it deals with some issues the lgbtqia+ deal with in terms of acceptance, their representation ends up being solely negative (the same can be said for mental health issues, with dangerous stereotypes being represented)

I wrote this.
Elephant Shoe is a story of loss and hope; acceptance and forgiveness; family, friendship and first love.
It's a British LGBT YA with mild sexual content, moderate bad language, and some difficult themes.
Read it.
Rate it.
Review it.
(Please and thank you).
That'd be bloody marvelous!
Happy Reading!

This is definately a book I would recommend to some of my students. It is a coming of age book but with the major complication of gender identity. Birdsall did a very good job of showing the struggles that can be faced when you do dot fit in the "norm". The compassion and acceptance shown in this book was magnificent.
