"Here’s another one I really like. I really like the relationship and the acting in a movie called The Dresser with Tom Courtenay and Albert Finney. Albert Finney is an aging Shakespearean actor who’s falling to pieces in his mind, and Tom Courtenay’s whole career depends on dressing this guy and he’s the only one who can get him through the show. You see all the people who depend on this guy to be able to do it, you know, in order for them to have their lives, and how important the theater is to them. I’ve always really been into the theater, even before I was an actor. And I love Tom Courtenay."

Alec Baldwin recommended Psycho (1960) in Movies (curated)

"I’m gonna say Psycho, because Tony Perkins, when you look back… He’s such a great actor, Tony Perkins. I miss him so much as an actor. He died not too old. I mean, he wasn’t that old. He died too young. And when you watch Psycho, God, what a great acting job that is to portray that. I mean, just indelible what he does. That famous scene when he was with her in the sitting room, and she’s like, “Why don’t you put your mother in a home?” and he kind of gets upset with her. I mean, Tony Perkins was one of the greatest actors. I loved Tony Perkins in the movies, so Psycho was my Hitchcock movie."

"This fifth film from von Sternberg and Dietrich is their apotheosis, delirious and excessive, with the most perfectly controlled photography (by Bert Glennon) of any black-and-white film ever made. Dietrich never looked more beautiful, nor flaunted her signature decadent Dietrich persona more fully. Their sixth and final film, The Devil Is a Woman, harshly photographed by von Sternberg himself, just didn’t work. But after The Scarlet Empress, it’s not surprising that neither director nor actor had anywhere better to go, as this film summed up and concluded the greatest actor-director collaboration in film history. And the supporting performances by Louise Dresser, as the empress, and Sam Jaffe, as the mad emperor, are really superb."

JK once again breaks the rules of her own world. As a serious Potter head I was very excited for the FBAWTFT franchise but this makes a mockery of any previous media. Have a nap instead. I wish I had. (0 more)

Marvel totally screws up the mythology here - Hel (Hela) and Fenrir are two of Loki's monster children.
This one was so good I saw it in theaters 3 times. Sorry not sorry.

I really couldn't get on with the Tobey McGuire Spiderman movies, so I'm glad another actor has taken the reins.
Judging by the trailer alone it looks like this might be more up my street, a bit of humour, plenty of action. I look forward to giving it a try at some point.

Five Easy Pieces (1970)
Five Easy Pieces (1970)
1970 | Classics, Drama, Musical

"Five Easy Pieces is a film that hit me as a young man. Most of my favorite movies, I think, come from the ’70s, in that period where I really wanted to become an actor. Jack Nicholson’s performance in that… it’s a film that would never be done by a major studio today."
