I've reread the book, its been a couple of years. As an introduction to Discworld this is a good place to start. I really enjoy the fact that you don't have to read the Discworld series in order to grasp the main themes and ideas, most of the story arcs are self contained.
Samuel Vines is one of my favorite characters.
If you want a popular fantasy trope(s) flipped on its head this is a great series to read. Funny and surprisingly deep this story is an enjoyment for all. It's an adult book and it does deal with some dark things like alcoholism and other adult themes, but I'd let my nephews read it or I'd read it to them.

Just watched the first two episodes on Disney plus thru star there adult section and so far so good it's on the short side just over half an hour per episode could have been longer extra ten mins that's my only complaint. On two the show itself all three leads are Brilliant especially martin and short who've been working together for so they have great chemistry just comic timing and there's selena gomez finally doing something more adult than those disney channel type shows she's used to doing. Overall I shall be watching this everyweek to find out who the is as well. Also I'm just as bad when it comes to listening to podcasts I like on occasion to listen to true crime podcast aswell

Terry Deary.

Perhaps best known for his 'Horrible Histories' series of books, mainly aimed at kids (although, as an adult, I like them too!)

This is aimed more at the adult market than those, with Deary's thesis being - essentially - that it is the island of Britain's enemies through the ages that has forged the national identity. I'm not entirely sold on that, or on who he has chosen - as someone who lived through the tail end of 'The Troubles' in Northern Ireland, I found that chapter especially jarring - with some of his 'dad jokes' getting old pretty quick.

Still, if you take it for what it is (and not entirely rely upon this as a single gospel source of truth), it's a pleasant enough overview of the history of Britain
