Jessica Erdas (463 KP) rated Making Bad Situations Worse in Tabletop Games
Jan 2, 2019
Hilarious
Before New Years, I had never heard of this game. While at a friend's house, they brought it out and absolute hilarity ensued. The content is original and definitely adult oriented. The judge draws a card, rolls the dice and selects the scenario on the card that goes with the coinciding number. You choose from the cards in your hand to make the situation worse and the person who drew the card picks the winner. The judge changes each turn. I would definitely play this game again with a group of friends.

Jake (52 KP) rated Sand (Sand, #1-5) in Books
Jul 25, 2019
So much potential, but so much fail.
Cons:
Way too much vulgarity (tons of swearing, some adult content)
No depth of characters
I wish there were better world-building
I wish there were a more defined problem & solution (more definable problem could lead to a better ending)
Pros:
Cool ideas, even if poorly executed

Chris Hooker (419 KP) rated A Plague of Shadows (Harbingers of Light, #1) in Books
Jan 12, 2018
[A Plague of Shadows] by [Travis Simmons] was a very quick read. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I see it is called "A New Adult Dark Fantasy" but I do not see what makes it 'adult'. I usually equate that with content that I can't put in my classroom. I did not find any of that in this book. To me it was a simple battle of good vs. evil. I hope to read the next installment in [The Harbingers of Light Series].

Caffeinated Fae (464 KP) rated Open Minds (Mindjack Series, #1) in Books
Jul 10, 2018
I received this book in exchange for an honest review. This was part of a young adult dystopian box set and I have to say that I am glad that I started with this book. I really enjoyed it.
This was an extremely quick read that kept me captivated for hours. I found myself invested in the characters. This novel is not your typical dystopian book. It deals with mind readers and a society that is scared of evolution. The fact that this was not a stereotypical dystopian really surprised me. I liked the characters and I liked the content. I'm glad that I was able to sit down and take time to read this young adult novel.
Ultimately, I enjoyed this novel. I will definitely continue on in the series and I am excited to read the rest of the box set.

JBrack (17 KP) rated The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo in Books

Bam
This is a great book but one you have to pay attention to or you will get lost!! While the story takes twists and turns you grow to care for the heroes of this book. You root for answers and reread pages to ensure you understand what the author is pointing out. It makes you work to figure out who did what and why, who is a good guy and who's only looking out for number one. So worth the read. However I don't recommend it for younger readers as the the content deals with very adult subject matter.
