I really enjoyed it but I had higher expectations, having heard all the excitement.
At times it did feel like an 80s adventure movie, from whence it was inspired, but at other times fell a bit flat.
I would have liked to have seen the underneath explored a bit more, but I am very glad it wasn't explained in too much detail.

This movie is severely underrated. It's based on a comic by the same name, which is also amazing. It's a period piece set in the 1940s and has a pulp quality to it. It's a fun adventure movie, and it still holds up after all this time. This movie definitely does not need to be remade, and I hope it's not.

A great story about a little girl's adventure across her families farms to take a message in German for her grandma, she keeps up with her responsibility despite many adventures and possible distractions. A wonderful ending for the young serves to highlight how the language of love can be universal despite generational gaps and reluctance to learn the “old tongue”.
