Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated The Snow Bear in Books
Apr 10, 2018
A sweet little story that sees the two children create a snowbear and then take it with them into the woods to play. Here their imagination takes hold and the adventure begins. What could be frightening for some little ones, this story has a safe ending and would be good for encouraging safe feelings.
My little one found it easy enough to read herself and spent time retelling the story from the images. Always a bonus.

The Craggus (360 KP) rated The Kid Who Would Be King (2019) in Movies
Mar 5, 2019
The Kid Who Would Be King (2019) pulls contemporary adventure from the stone of legend.
Opening with exactly the same set-up and opening thematic point as “Justice League”, Joe Cornish takes the idea of a country and a world which has lost hope and, with a keen eye for contemporary resonance, weaves a wonderfully affirmative and inspirational tale from the ancient cloth of legend and the modern social fabric of present-day England...

Dean (6927 KP) rated Avengers: Endgame (2019) in Movies
Apr 25, 2019 (Updated Apr 27, 2019)
An epic adventure
What a great way to bring to conclusion some 22 films over the past decade. So many characters, so many great films. This film is no exception. It has some great battles, great SFX as you would expect. It's also a very poignant film with a vast array of emotions felt by the characters and the viewer. Overall a very good conclusion to the Marvel saga.

The rock smashed it again
After Dwayne Johnson's previous films, you think he cannot do anything more right, but he does. This film is brilliant, Dwayne plays the part of family man who would do anything for those he loves so well (as we've seen before), the two child actors were fantastic in their roles also and really convincing. All round, the perfect film for anyone into action, adventure and family.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2367 KP) rated Alcatraz Versus the Evil Librarians (Alcatraz, #1) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
On his thirteenth birthday, Alcatraz gets a package from his long dead parents - sand. But that's not the strangest thing as his life takes some wild and crazy turns in this alternative reality book for kids. And it's a wild ride of laughs and adventure. I loved every minute of it and can't wait to read more.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2367 KP) rated The Magician's Nephew (Chronicles of Narnia, #6) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Two children from our world get tricked into traveling to magical worlds. But one stop is a world that is just forming and appears to be run by a lion.... A bit slow, and honestly I think it's best read in the order written (sixth), but still a fun tale filled with magic and adventure.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2367 KP) rated Poster Art of the Disney Parks in Books
Mar 9, 2018
As you'd expect, this is a collection of the poster art from the Magic Kingdom parks over the world and over the decade from the founding of Disneyland up to some of the recent posters in California Adventure. As a fan of the posters, I loved looking at them and am thrilled to have this book.

Quotable Lines
The Book that Inspire the movie... The greatest Romantic Action Comedy of all time... "They’re kissing again. Do we have to read the kissing parts?"
The only downside to reading this book, is that there is almost nothing the movie didn't cover... if you are looking for hidden gems the movie left out, you will be disappointed, otherwise this might be one of a few perfect adventure books of all time.

Dean (6927 KP) rated Monster House (2006) in Movies
Aug 29, 2018
A very good animated film about a house that is actually a living monster! It has a different type of animation style to most, no cute characters and bright colours here, which is in keeping with the story. It's still well animated with a good sense of depth adding a feeling of 3D space in the film. It's a little slow to start but soon picks up. It's a mix of a children's adventure with a Twilight zone story.

Chloe (514 KP) rated The Darkest Minds in Books
Jan 26, 2019
Even though the books so dark it is seen through the eyes of someone who at least compared to the other characters in the book is so innocent as a result readers are left in a state of shock with the main character as they experience this roller coaster (1 more)
With her. The book really has anything you could ask for romance adventure and fantasy and the author does such a good job at displaying these elements appropriately.
