It started with, “How can a man have written this book?” I bathed in Wally Lamb’s creation of a flawed but fascinating heroine teen girl who morphs into a sometimes misled, powerful and flawed adult woman. Her life’s adventures and choices, both positive and positively horrid, still touch me on my third, fourth and fifth read of this novel. (I loved it so much I voiced the book on tape.)"

Nicole Krauss' long awaited fourth novel is, to my mind her best yet. In this book, Krauss gives us parallel stories of two characters that travel from New York to Tel Aviv, while neither of them ever meets the other. Despite these disconnected tales, Krauss leads us to draw our own comparisons and contrasts with what she both reveals from and hides underneath their adventures. Whimsical
Reminiscent of Childhood
Not My Favorite
This is an adorable tale about two young sisters and their father moving into a new home. This place is a bit of a fixer upper but the whimsical and magical little house makes the whole place seem alive. The whole film is very memorable of a childhood filled with adventures through the woods and dreams of meeting strange new creatures. Although not one of my favorites of the Studio Ghibli films it still holds it own within the collection.
