XenaPrincess (148 KP) rated 1962–1966 by The Beatles in Music
Aug 24, 2017
This album and 'The Blue Album' have some of the most generally recognisable Beatles songs, ones that have stood the test of time and are still played time and time again, in all corners of the globe. That is testament to the pure genius of The Beatles. (1 more)
Every song is superb.

Rolling Stone's 10th greatest album of all time
Superb, I think this double album really shows the Beatles at their best. From Back in the USSR to Blackbird, they wrote in such a variety of styles and tempos but always with a superb song as the result. A wonderful listen.

Rolling Stone's 372nd greatest album of all time
Superb second album by The Police, featuring the epic Message in a Bottle, the brooding reggae of Walking on the Moon and a good few other great songs. For me this was The Police (and lets face it therefore Sting) at their best.
Rolling Stone's 361st greatest album of all time
Great soft hip hop album, with more melody than a lot of similar acts, as sufficient focus is given to the music. Featuring the well-known Ms Jackson and a number of lesser known but great songs, particularly Humble Mumble and Slum Beautiful.

Rolling Stone's 357th greatest album of all time
Forgettable album by Jagger et al. I listened to the original issued version, rather than the US version which included "Lets Spend the Night Together" and "Ruby Tuesday", which certainly would have helped. Without these, there is very little to remember here.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Squeezing Out Sparks by Graham Parker & The Rumour / Graham Parker in Music

Rolling Stone's 334th greatest album of all time
Brilliant album, I would say reminiscent of Elvis Costello but I believe they emerged about the same time, Parker possibly slightly earlier. Still, that gives an indication of the style of music, being similar to Costello's early days. Great "diet punk" songs.

Rolling Stone's 316th greatest album of all time
Fantastic album, featuring so many amazing rock songs, from the sublime "Where is my mind" to the bonkers "Broken Face". A band with so much personality, intelligence and sense of humour, and an ability to mix in different styles and tempos of song.

Rolling Stone's 188th greatest album of all time
Decent 60s American blues/rock album. Neil Young's presence really sets this apart from the likes of the Birds and other bands of the time, adding a rawness (mainly through his slightly a-tonal voice but also his desire for fuzzier guitar sounds).
