Rolling Stone's 485th greatest album of all time
I listened to this album a lot in my teens. While not Pearl Jam's best/biggest album, it was their newest at the time so more relevant to me. I would have said I loved it then, but I am struggling to see why now. While Last Exit, Corduroy and Better Man are good songs, they don't quite shine enough to let us forget all the nonsense on there. Spin the Black Circle is a dire attempt at punk and the rest is just not great. I think maybe I loved this so much in the 90s because I couldn't stand Eddie Vedder's voice and it seems a little toned down on this album than on others. Not quite as much like the scene in Ted.

"I became an instant fan of Lene's after the quirky chart hits 'Lucky Number' and 'Say When', I quickly became a fan of the Stiff Label's Roster through Lene and Madness and Kirsty MacColl. This was her second studio album, completely bonkers but as soon as I heard ‘Bird Song’ on the radio I rushed out to buy the 12 inch and subsequently the EP 'You Can't Kill Me' and the album flex. 'Angels', the second single, reminds me of Del Shannon's 'Run Away' and I remember reading that the weird album cover was shot inside a vat at the Guinness factory; I suppose it could be described as a Buddhist album. We were later on to meet and collaborate with Lene on don't 'Kill The Animal's', a song for PETA."

"I love every album by Kanye, and I covered part of "Heartless" from the 808s & Heartbreak album [in]. But if I had to pick just one, I would pick My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I remember listening to it for the first time, and it was like a proper, physical shock. It still feels really modern. It sums up everything I love about Kanye: excess, the production, memory, the future. It's comic, it's tragic, it's extravagant—and at the centre there's this one voice, and it's an angry man battling his demons. It's very much an album in format, as well—I wouldn't choose just one song. It's an experience. Sometimes I forget about this album, voluntarily, and I go back to it and discover something else. It's like a hydra, with a hundred heads."
