"This record is a gift that keeps on giving. I listened to the CD on a loop for months in my car. It’s unsuspecting: On first listen, it just sounded like one long song, but upon closer inspection, there’s a whole universe of small, strange moments, peaks and valleys. It’s a progressive concept album—both extremely heavy and lighthearted—with some beautiful sadness sprinkled in between."

"They were a contemporary of mine and were the British equivalent of The Band. They were incredibly original with songs that still sound good today. I record very few covers, but one of them is on my new album – a Gary Brooker and Keith Reid song called The Devil Came From Kansas. I just wanted to pay a tribute to a great British band."

"I love the South African jazz reissue label Matsuli Music. Everything they release is worth a listen, but this album is in a league of its own for me. ‘Anishilabi’ and ‘Lishonile’ are absolute masterpieces, if you ask me—very much in the vein of spiritual jazz that I love, but unique in so many ways. Both are club bangers too… at the right club."

"Yes, that was a brilliant film. I particularly liked Elizabeth Banks in it, she was great. And it also relates a bit to what I'm doing now – I moved back to Los Angeles and made this new album, and I think half of the songs were recorded in the studio where Pet Sounds was made. So I'm just very much part of that tradition."

Rolling Stone's 224th greatest album of all time
I was dreading this, as Sweet Caroline is played at every Scottish wedding, birthday, christening and probably a fair number of funerals. I can't stand it's cheesiness, with accompanying drunken "bah-bah-baaaaah".
However, as this is the first track the pain is over quickly and the rest of the collection is OK, generic 70s rock.

Rolling Stone's 191st greatest album of all time
Still not the Stooges at their Raw Power peak, but this stands out so much when compared to so much of the early 70s rock. Starting to blend from rock and roll / psychedelic rock to what would become punk it is a very good listen and has a key role to play in the development of punk rock.

Rolling Stone's 162nd greatest album of all time
Quite simply one of the best albums of all time. Right from the off it is a collection of fantastic intelligent 90s indie anthems. What few lower moments there are provide a welcome moment to recover from what had just been experienced. Paranoid Android, No Surprises and Airbag are some of the best British rock songs ever.
