It's so much more the alien movie.
Such a unique take on a genre that needed something original.
District 9 is one of the most original alien "invasion" movies out there. It was a serious breath of fresh air in a genre that tends to be so very cliche and repetitive. Don't get me wrong I love alien movies but you can only watch people get chased around and abducted so many times before you crave something different.
And at it's heart District 9 is so much more then just an alien movie it is a movie about immigrant and refugees and how the world tends to treat them.
My favorite part of the movie is the part that most people hated and that is the ending. I usually HATE open-ended ending but with District 9 I felt like it fit the movie so well that I couldn't be mad about it.

What in the alien nation did I just sit through?! I can't get those couple of hours back. I love sci-fi, but this was disappointing, to say the least. It was just too cheesy for me, especially in the end. So...are they just going to live inside the alien forever, now? Is he going to keep fighting off the tentacles? I mean, she can't just climb down or easily jump out to safety. Pretty soon the alien is going to notice something's up with him. ...And frankly, I would've kicked the "new" guy out of the group! He was annoying! I'm kind of surprised that he didn't turn out to be an alien. That probably would have fit into the movie just fine. Damn it! The guy never should have let the roof door swing shut in the beginning! It could've been a completely different movie! I blame him. Lol

This film is stupid Russian ship intercepts a signal from the space station which has an intelligent being in the signal then slaughters the whole crew by building robots then some fishermen find the Russian ship board it and then chaos happens as they try to survive the whole objective of this film from the alien point of view is to get the ship to port so it can spread which if the alien entity did not go around killing people in the first place it would of reached its objective anyway as the fishermen where trying to salvage the ship most of the crew die except for two
Andy K (10821 KP) rated Alien Resurrection (1997) in Movies

Gets a bad wrap
Certainly a major step down from the first two which are obvious classics. Even a step down from Alien 3 which is also divisive, but pretty good film. The scene with the Ripley clones and some of the Alien stuff is pretty cool here, and not as bad as the film's reputation through the years. I've seen people compare to Superman IV which should be wiped off the face of the Earth as not nearly as bad as that. I would say I liked Prometheus better than Alien Resurrection, but for different reasons. It seemed like this film just didn't have enough energy and not enough fresh ideas.
