Suswatibasu (1701 KP) rated The Man in the High Castle in Books
Sep 15, 2017
In this version, citizens of Jewish origin begin to be hunted down alongside those with ethnic minorities, except for the Japanese, given their support during the war. Amid this turmoil, is a mysterious and controversial book floating around, that explains what America would look like if they had won.
This is a bit of mind trip as a result, and it does end rather abruptly. However, the writing is gripping and you're desperate to find out how the man in the high castle connects to the story.
Ross (3284 KP) rated The Tick - Season 1 in TV
Apr 3, 2018
The whole series could probably have been boiled down to one feature rather than 12 half hour episodes but it doesn't feel drawn out or padded.
Peter Serafinowicz as the Tick is somewhat underused I would say, with the bulk of the focus being on Arthur, given his comedic abilities but I think that suited the story.
James Koppert (2698 KP) rated Atrocity Exhibition by Danny Brown in Music
Nov 2, 2019
The beats are on the abstract side a la Kool Keith, but again, just enough to stay on the side of commercial sounding without being too 'alternative'. Then there is his voice and flow. Danny Brown sound cartoonish and ever so slightly deranged and as a rapper his flow is not exactly on point but it works. It all comes together and sounds very good.
Like Eminem, it's difficult to listen to too many tracks next to each other, but take them Indavidualy and you will enjoy this album extremely.
Docile was an interesting novel. I wasn't sure what to expect as I read it. Luckily, there was no strange twist at the end that ruined it. It followed the main story all the way through. It gave an interesting view of a medically futuristic program to help families pay off their debt. The program isn't without fault, and I, personally, wouldn't want to be a part of it, but in the story, many had no other choice. (Debtors' prison was the alternative.) It was a unique, yet realistic situation to read about. Money speaks loudly, and it definitely screams in this novel.
