"I stole that from my brother. I was like, ‘What is this?’ I was in seventh grade or eighth grade and it was another album where it kind of takes you somewhere. You are like, This isn’t human. This was just dropped by a spaceship and it’s not a person singing this song or creating these beats. This is just a space alien.’ Portishead’s production is just insane beats you would expect to be on a KRS-One album. But then there's this little white girl with an angel voice singing over it. It was a cool juxtaposition. I like ‘It’s A Fire.’ That’s a chill song with kind of a military drum thing going on, like a drummer boy."

Amelia's sister has been kidnapped by the devil so she asks Veiron, the fallen angel with attitude, to go and rescue her sister. He agrees (after some snarky comments) and heads off to help. Erin meanwhile is trapped inside a three-walled cell with an open drop to a river of lava on the fourth wall. She is beaten, and starved, but still keeps her sense of self. When Veiron comes to her rescue, she can't quite believe her luck. Rescued at last and by a hottie too.

These two certainly have fun along the way as they find out each other's secrets, amongst other things. They are a perfect match in that Erin's feisty attitude doesn't take any of Veiron's snarkiness. This doesn't mean that there aren't misunderstandings and differences of opinion along the way.

Their path is not a straight one, mind you, and they have to deal with Erin's secret and what happens to Veiron (trying really hard not to spoil anything here!).

Amelia also tries her best to keep Erin and Veiron apart although the reasons for this, apart from her thinking that Veiron isn't good enough for Erin, aren't clear. I did like Erin's response though that she should get off her power trip before she gets knocked off it!

A brilliantly written, fast-paced and full of action addition to the Her Angel series, definitely my favourite so far. I'm off to read Her Wicked Angel now though so that may change.

I had a lot of fun with this book.

This book was pretty decent. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who hadn't already watched the series or read the original comic books simply because the three different stories are written by different people, and they wrote these stories with different time periods in mind.

For instance, the first story is meant to take place near the beginning of the series when Buffy and Angel are still in that "honeymoon" phase of their relationship. Then, when the second story opens, Buffy and Angel are mortal enemies and Buffy is trying to consider how exactly she's going to bring herself to kill him. In the third story, Buffy and Angel are all snuggly again.

So, if someone who had never watched the series simply picked this book up on a whim to read it, I think they would find it very hard and confusing to read. But the storylines were good, and the characterization of the characters was great. I could just hear some of the lines coming from the mouths of Sarah Michelle Geller and David Boreanaz.

Individually, the second story was probably the best. It had an entirely original storyline (within the framework of the overall series, that is) that was just really involved and really well-done. I really loved that one. The first one was good, as well. I was less fond of the third and final story because parts of it were very similar to other Buffy episodes/comics already available AND because some of thing things that happened (like Angel actually deciding to kill Willow to save Buffy) just were NOT realistic. Of the three, the last one was definitely the weakest.

However, the anthology was still a nice addition to anyone who loves Buffy.

Well, this was such an easy read, I read it in a day.
I just love the easy flow that James Patterson writes with. I also love the view of the world through a teenagers view, in the throes of young teenage love and angst.
However the writing is slighty young for my tastes now...obviously as this is for teenagers, but I still enjoyed the read and I cant wait to read Angel....I hope Max does save the world.
